SummaryThe Mechanical Engineer is responsible for producing designs for generator enclosures, UL listed fuel tanks, subframes and service platforms. Direction will be given from the engineering manager through submittal drawings and schedule to carry out the detail production design. It will be the engineer's responsibility to take the customer approval package and create a production-ready design with minimal supervision.ResponsibilitiesCreate production ready model, drawings, and work packets of products within estimate hoursManage engineering from approved customer drawing package through final production stagePerform engineering calculations for wind and seismic loading including design of reinforcement structure if requiredQuickly resolve any issues on the shop floor with production managerEnsure designs conform to company design standardsResponsible for accuracy of drawings to prevent rework and scrapAssemble production work packets following standard templatesNest orders and compile all raw material estimations required to complete jobDraft part and assembly drawingsEnsure designs conform to company design standardsResponsible for accuracy of work packets, nests, materials, and drawings to prevent rework and scrapFollow and adhere to production schedule for production design release dates to shop floorWrite and release standard process documentation as requiredOther responsibilities may be assignedSpecific QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering or 5+ years mechanical design experienceProficiency in Solidworks, PDM, Nesting, Excel, and ERP SoftwareHigh attention to detailsHands-on production and mechanical design experienceThorough understanding of sheet metal and weldment designKnowledgeable of Solidworks best practicesUnderstanding of machine capabilities and fabrication equipment with respect to the constraints it places on creating efficient manufacturable designsStrong work ethic with demonstrated accountabilityAble to work efficiently with minimum supervisionFamiliar with OSHA, UL, and NEC codesAbility to problem solve, find root causes, and take preventive or corrective actions
