Strategists at Tailfin blend logic and reasoning with creative thinking to help get strategies, projects, and people UNSTUCK.DESIRED ATTITUDE, SKILLS & INTANGIBLES:Consensus builder who is comfortable collaborating with departments across the agency while still developing and defending a point of view internally and with clientsSelf-starter that actively seeks opportunities to make an impactNot afraid of "a blank piece of paper" - confident in building strategies from the ground upSeamlessly builds and blends brand strategy and creative / content strategy into holistic solutions for clientsThrives on finding ways to do things differently and betterResourceful, especially when it comes to mining for brand insightsHonest and straightforward; knows the importance of having hard conversations and can navigate them with easeFinds the potential for greatness in every opportunityCreatively problem-solves; never stops asking whyPushes boundaries and does not settle for "how we've always done it"A true team player who jumps in wherever neededWritten and verbal communication skills that inspire a roomThe ideal candidate has 5-8 years strategy experienceJOB FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS:Strategy DevelopmentPlays an essential role at the agency developing strategies for a variety of clients in a range of fields.Lead all strategy projects internally and with clientsDevelop comprehensive brand strategies, including but not limited to customer profiles, customer journeys, brand positioning / value proposition, messaging approaches, and brand anthems / manifestosDevelop insight-driven creative/campaign strategies and creative briefs, including but not limited to business and consumer problem identification, key audience or cultural insights, unique campaign/creative direction, and requirements/creative considerationsPartner with Account and Creative teams to ensure agency alignment on recommended strategiesRecommend research approaches to generate learnings and insights that clients need, leveraging the right research tools and formatsConduct secondary research (desk research or using existing client information) to inform strategies and strategic POVsHelp conduct primary research; for example: develop focus group or interview discussion guides, lead focus groups and interviews, and develop outputs consisting of key themes/takeaways and insightsDevelop survey questions, build and distribute surveys to target audience in the research platform (e.g. SurveyMonkey), analyze results, and develop outputs consisting of key themes/takeaways and insightsComfortable working with existing strategic frameworks but willing to evolve as agency and client needs requireAgency Marketing / Thought LeadershipHelps lead Tailfin marketing efforts, including developing and facilitating thought leadership pieces and organic/paid agency marketing efforts.Lead Tailfin's organic content strategy, including monthly blogs and occasional social contentPartner with Account team to develop creative assetsBusiness DevelopmentPlays an essential role in assisting with new business efforts, including RFP responses and client introductions.Help develop new business introduction decksLead or support RFP responses, including developing relevant materials and ensuring requirements are being metActively participate in new business meetings as neededPartner with Creative and Account teams on larger RFP responses, as neededHYBRID OFFICE We believe there are real benefits that come both with in-person collaboration and heads-down, focused remote work. At Tailfin, we come into the office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
