PLEASE APPLY ON OUR SITE: TypeFull-timeDescriptionSUMMARYGreenhill School's Design + Innovation program seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team. This position is designed for an individual with a strong background in both electrical and mechanical engineering, ideally with both education and industry experience. The candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the Design + Innovation Lab's curriculum, guiding students through hands-on projects, and contributing to the broader school community. This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and teach project-based learning experiences that incorporate both electrical and mechanical engineering concepts.Guide students through the process of designing, prototyping, and troubleshooting projects involving DC circuits, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers such as Arduino.Support students in learning how to program microcontrollers for automation and control applications.Assist students in creating schematics and, where possible, designing custom PCBs.Integrate engineering and design thinking principles into the curriculum, ensuring alignment with the Design + Innovation Lab's mission and vision: Our mission is to prepare and inspire students to lead authentic, purposeful lives, the Design + Innovation Lab at Greenhill is dedicated to providing opportunity and leadership in the areas of design, engineering and innovation education to the Greenhill and DFW communities. Our vision is to be a "north-star" Design + Innovation program that creates a differentiation of choice for Greenhill within its market by providing a path for all Greenhill students to become innovators.Provide hands-on mentorship for students working on capstone projects, competitions, and industry-sponsored initiatives.Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects that bridge engineering with other fields, such as entrepreneurship and computer science.Engage in professional development and share knowledge with faculty members to enhance cross-disciplinary learning opportunities.Participate in school-wide initiatives that support innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion.Develop relationships with industry partners to create opportunities for student engagement and real-world application of skills.Able to teach a full load: 4 classes and an advisory. Courses taught could be in either middle and/or upper school.Support the mission and vision of the Design + Innovation Lab at Greenhill.RequirementsQualifications and Education Requirements:Bachelors degree or higher in education or STEM-related field.Experience working in a hands-on STEM program.Strong knowledge of DC circuits, including voltage, current, resistance, and power concepts.Proficiency in programming microcontrollers such as Arduino or similar platforms.Hands-on experience working with various sensors, motors, and actuators.Familiarity with 3D modeling software (Onshape, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to guide students through the iterative design process.Excellent communication and mentorship skills.A Proven growth mindset, being a lifelong learner.Ability to work collaboratively in an educational environment.Preferred:Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.Industry experience in an engineering-related role.Experience designing and fabricating custom PCBs.Prior teaching, mentorship and/or training experience, either in an academic or industry setting.Knowledge of and experience with rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.Being comfortable in a machine shop setting.
