Kaishian & Mortazavi LLC is hiring a full-time paralegal to join our team! K&M is a boutique civil rights firm located in Brooklyn handling issues related to civil rights violations and personal injury across New York City. K&M is seeking a paralegal familiar with Federal and New York State civil court procedures and deadlines, case management, and legal writing to join our dedicated team. ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and file routine legal documentsProofread and file documents prepared by attorneys Create and maintain case files in collaboration with attorneys and staffFacilitate the meeting of case deadlines by tracking due dates and providing timely remindersConduct legal researchAssist in preparing deposition materials, exhibits, and trial bindersDemonstrate proactive problem solving and case management skillsProvide clients with basic information such as procedural status updates if requested (all legal questions and substantive discussions handled by attorneys)See all tasks through to completion, including by delegating related assignments to appropriate team members and by following up with clients/parties/providers as necessaryRequirementsFamiliarity with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure requiredLegal writing experience requiredLegal research experience requiredPACER and NYSCEF filing experience requiredMust be self-motivated to identify and complete tasks, and to recognize when assistance is needed from attorneys or other staff to do soMust be an effective communicatorNYS Notary license required OR must satisfy licensing requirements within 45 days of hiring (associated costs, including testing, licensing, and renewal fees, to be covered by firm)Preferred Skills2+ years experience as a paralegal strongly preferredExperience with tracking billable time preferred (for Federal matter purposes; position has no monthly billable minimum)E.D.N.Y. and/or S.D.N.Y. experience preferredExperience with remote Case Management Systems preferredBenefits and Other Information Hours are 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM, with extended hours limited to trial and specific time-sensitive tasksSalary is commensurate with experience, with a base range of $80k-$90kTwo weeks (14 days) of paid time off and one week (7 days) paid sick timeAll Federal holidays off, plus additional scheduled days off annuallyHybrid work-from-home schedule available after 30 days of demonstrated efficacyMetrocard or equivalent applicable transit benefits providedPosition eligible for mid-year and annual performance-based bonusesOffice located in DUMBO/Downtown BrooklynAnticipated start date March 2025If you believe you might be a good fit for this position, please submit 1) cover letter, 2) resume, and 3) writing sample (less than 10 pages preferred) in PDF form to HIRING@.
