Havern School creates confident learners by nurturing the potential of students with neurodiverse learning profiles through the use of specialized, small group instruction and integrated therapies.Job Title: Building Substitute TeacherDepartment: Program Supervisor's Title: Head of School Employee Classification: Exempt This position is for a permanent floating substitute teacher in multi-grade classrooms at Havern School, serving students with neurodiverse profiles. We follow a self-contained model, with the teachers responsible for teaching all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). This position is for the remainder of this school year with the potential to return to the building substitute teacher position or another position for the 2025-2026 school year. When not subbing, other administrative tasks may be assigned. This is a full-time position with general hours being 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM. The salary ranges from $35,000 to $45,000 annually, based on experience and hours.Roles and responsibilities:Deliver instruction per teacher lesson plan to students, following the directions and guidelines of the lead teacher.Flexibility and willingness to move between classrooms where needed throughout the day and the week.Help create a positive classroom environment where students are engaged, challenged at their individual level, and supported (both emotionally and academically).Develop suitable curricula, lessons, materials, and effective teaching methods based on the assessments of students' needs.Understand students' needs and adjust instruction accordingly.Deliver differentiated, data-driven instruction across all subject areas.Supervise students at recess and lunch.Support essential classrooms as needed (art, drama, technology).Develop a respectful, positive, and caring rapport with students.Maintain a positive attitude toward work with colleagues, families, and students.Other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in an Education-related fieldExperience working with diverse student populations3-5 years experience in an independent school setting, preferredOrton Gillingham or similar training, preferredBasic comfort and skill with Google Suite and Google ClassroomDemonstrated ability to communicate, solve problems, and maintain effective relationships with all members of the school communityHigh level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and informationPlease visit our website for more information about our school: If you are interested in the position please submit a cover letter and resume to jobs@.Applicants are considered for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or the presence of a non-job-related medical condition or handicap.Updated: February 2025
