OVERVIEW:Canopy Team is a women-led, multi-disciplinary practice at the intersection of sports, design, and project management. We work with organizations in the sports & entertainment industry to design and build their homes for training, fans, and competition. We oversee all aspects of the built environment starting with the vision, design, and construction all the way through Opening Day and operations.Our energetic, entrepreneurial team is seeking an organized, highly motivated individual to join our project team as a Senior Construction Manager in our design, development and construction group. We are proud to support a healthy working experience and offer a robust benefits package, flexible time off, and compensation commensurate with experience.GENERAL SUMMARY:The Construction Manager represents the interest of Canopy Team and its clients throughout the development of large-scale capital projects in multiple cities across the United States. The Construction Manager is tasked with ensuring projects stay on time, within budget, and other elements are achieved as set forth in the project scopes. They will have extensive experience evaluating and utilizing integrated services of architects, engineers, consultants, and other project and construction managers. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal dynamics, experience managing large-scale capital improvement projects, and a willingness to travel or be based long-term on a project site. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Act as the primary liaison between the client and contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project and client goals.Oversee the development and management of project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts, ensuring financial accountability and client understanding of scope costs.Review and analyze construction bids, contracts, pay applications, and change orders to ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with project scope.Organize and lead project teams consisting of architects, engineers, consultants, construction and other project managers.Attend all regularly scheduled construction, design, and development meetings as necessary on behalf of Canopy Team clients.Monitor progress and provide updates to relevant stakeholders of all aspects of the construction phase.Work with a team of architects, consultants, and designers to develop documents and produce presentations for owners, key stakeholders, and city planning officials as needed.Review and markup all levels of design and construction documents for both internal and external project teams. Includes specialty Accessibility/MEP/Technology drawings as needed.Lead value engineering efforts, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or functionality.Work closely with facilities teams, venue operators, revenue specialists, and other specialty consultants to ensure projects are executed with client goals in mind.As needed, manage an internal team of project managers and coordinators to meet client and project needs.Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to Canopy Team members.Perform other tasks as required.QUALIFICATIONS:Note: Candidates who believe they are a good cultural and professional fit for this role are encouraged to apply evenif these qualifications are not fully met. Strong communication skillsAbility to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyKnowledge of design and construction processesExperience in project team assembly (interview processes, RFQs, RFPs)Knowledge and experience with multiple project delivery methodsKnowledge and experience in reviewing project design and construction contractsKnowledge of planning process, local jurisdiction approval processes, permitting, and related fieldsStrong computer skills and experience with drawing review, project management, and budgeting softwareAbility to manage executive-level project budget and schedule across large, complex projects ($20m+)Must be highly organized with excellent attention to detailAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyExceptional problem assessment and problem solvingExcellent attention to detail and accuracyComfort in understanding both narratives and drawings from technical consultants within a typical design team (including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, technology and other scopes)Comfort with scope ambiguity and working in a fast-paced and frequently changing project environmentStrong knowledge of scopes of work within large-scale sports/entertainment facility projectsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSING:10+ years of professional experience in construction project managementExtensive experience in pre-construction phase including cost estimating, bid-leveling, and procurementDegree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business or Project Management preferredExperience with cost estimating is a plusPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work remotely with a strong preference to be located near either Pasadena, CA or Baltimore, MDAbility to travel domestically (up to 75%)Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekendsAbility to stand, walk, reach with the hands and arms, use the hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, talk and hearAbility to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and exert or lift and carry up to 25 poundsOccasionally climb and/or maintain balanceSuccessful performance of this position requires close, distance, and peripheral vision.
