Rydberg Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. In this role you will support product development and manufacturing in a hands-on technical capacity involving a wide range of engineering tasks from design to manufacturing and quality assurance testing of quantum devices and photonics. As a member of our cross-disciplinary team, you will contribute to cutting-edge projects in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidates are strong individual contributors supporting team goals, solution-oriented, give attention to the finest project details, and thrive in a dynamic team environment.Responsibilities include:Design and engineer mechanical systems and components that meet functional specifications and user requirements.Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and 2D technical engineering designs for manufacturing.Conduct simulations and analyses (COMSOL) to test the feasibility of designs and ensure performance (mechanical, thermal, etc.) and compliance with industry standards.Build and manufacture glass vapor cells, ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems, precision optomechanical and electromechanical assemblies, laser, optics and fiber-optics packaging.Collaborate with project management and other engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with electronic systems and software.Prototype development, including selecting materials, fabricating parts, and performing tests.Manage the full product development cycle from concept through to production.Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, testing protocols, and user manuals.Support manufacturing processes by working closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product quality and manufacturability.Stay current with the latest technologies and advancements in mechanical engineering and related fields.Expertise and skills include:Bachelor of Science or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.At least 3 years of relevant experience in design, engineering, and manufacturing.Expert in CAD and SolidWorks for mechanical engineering design.Experience with COMSOL or similar simulation tools highly preferred.Knowledgeable of material properties e.g. mechanical, thermal, magnetic, RF, etc.Experience with programming languages such as LabView, Python, and C is highly beneficial.Strong capability in both analog and digital electronics.Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and handling delicate materials.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and external collaborators.Self-motivated, meticulous, and detail-oriented with a high level of organization and planning.
