This role is responsible for supporting design implementation of electric auxiliaries, interconnection, services, and/or specialties in support of the Xe-100 SMR power plants. Nuclear experience IS NOT required. This role supports engagement with the project team and/or other subject matter experts to understand operability needs, interfaces, and requirements. The role also performs direct design and/or review activities as needed for drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, test plans, lists, and other tasks as assigned. Works independently with guidance using knowledge of electrical/I&C and process engineering concepts. May provide support to project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and review of proposals. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.Minimum Education/QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.Typically, ten years of experience in an Electrical and/or Control System Design/operation/implementation role in a variety of electrical system development concepts, practices, and procedures. Master's degree or PhD can be considered 2 to 3 years of additional experience.Understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards.Understanding of how to develop electrical models to analyze design.JOB REQUIREMENTSThis position will execute the core tasks and responsibilities listed below with minimal supervision:Review P&ID diagrams, system descriptions, or system architecture to derive electric service needs.Perform direct design and/or review activities for electrical deliverables including single lines, calculations, schematics, load lists, panel boards, MCC schedules, site grounding, meter & relay, system descriptions, reports, white papers, or other tasks as assigned.Design the layout of distribution wiring, cable conduit, cable raceway, signal wiring, etc. in accordance with relevant codes and standards for commercial grade and safety related equipment.Develop operational philosophy for the integration of electrical equipment for activities such as plant commissioning, startup, normal operations, and maintenance activities.Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.Collaborate in the technical oversight and direction of internal or external design teams.Facilitate and assist in the assessment of customer needs and captures requirements and functions of the electrical system for nuclear generating stations.Execute electrical engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives; utilizes conventional specification and/or Interface Control Documents and plans.Recommend system design alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures from an assembly, transportation, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and/or decommissioning perspective.Leads reviews and presentations for internal company design reviews and customer design reviews regarding electrical system design.Provide insight into typical plant response to electrical transients, grid conditions, extreme weather events, and standard dispatch actions such as production coordination.Work with design programs, including but not limited to SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant instrumentation, SmartPlant review, AutoCAD, ETAP, and Microsoft office products.Size electrical distribution equipment and cabling.Work with industrial motors and motor drives.Work with balance of plant objectives.Work with utility partners to establish high voltage interconnections.Work with protective relaying and metering.Directly interface with other design/system engineers.Prepare and review design packages and design calculations for delivery to client.Develop equipment specifications and data sheets.Organize engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, contractors, or other groups as required.Collaborate in the preparation of cost estimates and quantity take off.Collaborate in project planning and scheduling.Facilitate and assist in systems engineering with interface management and requirements decomposition.Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members.Lead small groups of engineers to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality engineering work products on time and within budget.Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
