Established in 1960, we are committed to hands-on involvement with our clients and to maintaining a welcoming and collaborative in-office atmosphere.Our diverse portfolio includes challenging projects from new buildings to seismic evaluations and renovations.Project Manager Job DescriptionOverviewIndependently manage smaller projects or provide mid-level support in mid-size projects.Manage multiple team members.ExperienceMinimum 5 to 8 years of experience in building structural engineering.Technical Knowledge and Document PresentationDrawings: Be able to create a sheet list/cartoon drawing set at the beginning of a project that incorporates required plans, typical details, and recognizes the need for specialized details. Set up project plans and bring in typical details. Manage the development of the drawing set throughout the design by multiple team members. Be able to develop non-typical, project specific details with the assistance of Principal or Associate.Calculations: Be able to assemble a complete set of calculations.Specifications: Ensure consistency between project scope and specifications, assist in writing project unique specifications.Analysis: Be familiar with typical analysis programs, including RAM, ETABS, and SAFE. Able to set-up models, debug, and train staff in building design models.Experience in nonlinear and time history analyses a plus.Must be able to model in Revit Structure as well as prepare drawings.Experience with DSA and/or HCAI (OSHPD) is highly desired.Project Management Understand project budget, scope, and factors that affect profitability.Develop workplans for each phase and monitor their execution.Identify and manage scope creep with the goal of maintaining budget under guidance of Principal or Associate.Write additional service requests, as required, under guidance of Principal or Associate.Staff DevelopmentResponsible for primary training and mentoring of new graduates and interns.Understand and anticipate the needs and questions from the supporting staff.Assign tasks and review staff engineer's work:Provide technical and time management guidance and monitor progress on a regular basis (daily on a regular basis (daily or weekly, as needed).Provide constructive feedback (positives and areas for improvement) for further development of staff.Develop skills to maintain balance in each team member's workload while meeting client expectations.Client DevelopmentAssist in managing client relationship and expectations.Serve as primary point of contact for client, where appropriate.Assist in providing clear boundaries on structural possibilities.Balance clients' wishes with contract terms.Gain further understanding of scope of other design consultants/trades (including architect, Geotech, civil, MEP engineers, etc.) to better communicate and coordinate impact of other consultants' design on structural and vice versaEstablish and develop relationships with your architect/consultant/contractor counterpart to grow the relationship as you each grow in your career.Network with architects and clients in professional and business-casual opportunities (sports games, lunches, dinners, volunteering opportunities, etc.)Professional DevelopmentMust have a PE license.Active pursuit of SE licensure.Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 before any eligible bonuses.
