Job Title: Architectural Associate We are seeking an Architectural Associate to join our clients team in Houston, TX! The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting and designing precise, detailed plans that illustrate home designs, building materials, and optional features. They will collaborate closely with internal teams to develop construction documents and plans that reflect both design intent and regulatory requirements. If youre eager to apply your drafting skills and passion for residential design in a collaborative environment, we'd love to meet you!Key Responsibilities:• Drafting & Design: Utilize AutoCAD Architectural Desktop and other CAD software to create detailed, accurate architectural plans, elevations, and sections for residential home designs. Develop comprehensive home design drawings that include building materials, options, and other key details. • Construction Documentation: Draft and modify construction documents to support the production of home designs, ensuring they meet both client specifications and regulatory requirements. Develop forms, charts, and other documents that will assist in internal reviews and presentations for future homeowners. • Design Refinement: Support the design team in refining plans and adjusting designs based on feedback, construction requirements, or code changes. Ensure that designs are both visually appealing and structurally sound, adhering to best practices in residential homebuilding. • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to coordinate design elements and develop construction documents that meet project timelines. Provide timely and effective communication on design changes, updates, and revisions. • Code Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure that all drafted designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and company standards. Maintain accuracy and consistency across all design documents, addressing any discrepancies as needed. • Quality Control: Review drawings for precision, consistency, and completeness, ensuring that all plans meet the company's high standards for quality. Ensure that final documents reflect the design vision and construction feasibility. • Maintain Design Templates: Assist in developing and refining standard design templates and drafting methods to streamline the drafting process and improve efficiency. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in architecture is preferred but not required. 2-5 years of experience in drafting/design in the homebuilding industry. • Proficiency in AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, Google SketchUp, and other design software. • Strong knowledge of residential construction, including structural and mechanical design considerations.• Excellent drafting skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to translate ideas into accurate, functional designs. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.Preferred Skills & Experience: • Experience specifically in residential design or production homebuilding. • Familiarity with sustainable design principles and green building practices. • Proficiency in AutoCAD.If you're passionate about design, innovation, and craftsmanship, we'd love to see how you can contribute to our team.
