Job PurposeAs a Lead Preschool Teacher, you will foster a nurturing environment that is rich in developmentally appropriate activities that will encourage childrens curiosity and learning. We care for the whole child as an individual including their social -- emotional, cognitive, and developmental needs.How You Will Impact EducationInstruction/Education ResponsibilitiesCommunicate with co-teacher and other staff members on a daily basisMentor and train new staff as neededCollaborate with other staff members to plan activitiesLead by example in the classroom and schoolEnsure childrens safety and well-being at all timesParticipate in ongoing professional developmentBe a team player and an active, engaged member of the teaching staffCommunicate with parents daily regarding the childs progress and developmentMaintain a positive can-do attitudeMaintain accreditation and state childcare standardsUphold company vision and mission at all timesRequired Qualifications and SkillsDevelop and implement lesson plan activitiesDevelop and implement STEM and literacy activities and conceptsAssess and observe children on a daily basisAdjust learning goals for each child as neededMaintain a healthy and safe environmentCollaborate with co-teacher and other staff membersCommunicate with teachers, staff and parents in a professional mannerClassroom newslettersClassroom documentationCreate and maintain classroom and childrens portfoliosBe familiar with Early Childhood theorists and philosophies such as Piaget, Vygotsky, Reggio Amelia, Montessori and others.Participate in at least 25 hours of professional development per yearJob RequirementsHigh school diploma/GEDCDA1-year experience working as lead teacher in a licensed childcare facilityMeets state childcare education requirementsKnowledge of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP)Familiar with NAEYC standardsFamiliar with continuity of careStrong organizational skillsAble to maintain professional composure in stressful situationsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalFamiliar with accreditation process -- preferredCollege level coursework, Associates or Bachelors degree - preferredMust be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of timeMust be able to lift 40lbsMust be 18 years of age or olderMust pass Level 2 background screeningVPK certified if applicableThe following childcare training courses must be completed within specified timeframes-Preschool Appropriate Practices - upon hireFlorida early learning and developmental standards- Birth to kindergarten (2017) Online -- upon hireFlorida early learning and developmental standards- Birth to kindergarten (2017) Instructor-Led - within 180 days of employmentSpecial Needs Appropriate Practices -- within 90 days of employmentCPR and First Aid -- within 90 days of employmentOther training requirements identified by leadership teamMay perform other duties assigned.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:Usual office working conditions.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
