JJA is looking for an experienced Electrical Designer to join our TEAM.JJA, Inc. is a leading MEP consulting firm in Dallas, Texas, providing engineering design of HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, electrical distribution, power systems, lighting systems, life safety systems, energy modeling and MEP system commissioning. Depending on your history and experience, you can join JJA as either a Designer II or Designer III.Designers utilize their production skills and design knowledge to accomplish both design and production tasks in the completion of the firms projects. They are assigned specific tasks on project teams and are expected to assist project managers, engineers, and other designers in the development of building systems. In addition to the above, Designer IIIs may also be assigned projects to manage.The primary responsibilities below are general in nature with the willingness to handle many duties in a small office environment a must. Everyone is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule.Primary Duties Include:Perform calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design such as lighting and power plans and riser diagrams.Provide layout and design for lighting and receptacles as well as riser diagrams and sizing for feeders, panels, and transformers.Select equipment based on recommendations of Project Manager/Engineer and fill out equipment schedules.Research design options and document findings for Project Manager/Engineer.Provide information to Project Manager/Engineer for incorporation into specifications.Review shop drawings and equipment submittals.Perform field surveys.Additional Designer III duties include:Attend client meetings.Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design such as electrical distribution systems, generator, UPS, and life safety systems.Perform coordination studies and arc flash studies.Prepare project specifications.To be successful in this position, the Designer:Works with minimal supervision and can use independent judgment within established guidelines.Exercises poise and is able to work with multiple people on multiple projects while prioritizing work requirements.Continually strives to maintain and develop an organized and efficient process.Pays close attention to details.Performs design duties, which are checked for accuracy by others.Keeps supervisor and Project Manager/Engineer aware of workload.In addition to the above, a successful Designer III:Is able to supervise Engineer I and Designers.Performs quality checks on the work produced by Engineer I and DesignersThe majority of this positions duties are performed in a typical office environment, but there will be occasions when the employee may be exposed to interior or exterior construction sites.
