***** Electrician** Palo Alto, CA 94304 Veterans Health Administration (VA Palo Alto Health Care System)Position ** Full-TimeJob *The VA Palo Alto Health Care System is seeking a skilled, licensed Electrician to join our facilities team. This role is critical to maintaining the safety, functionality, and compliance of electrical systems across our Veterans hospital campus. The ideal candidate will ensure all electrical infrastructure meets federal, state, and VA-specific standards, supporting a healing environment for our nation's Veterans.Key *Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, lighting, generators, and emergency power systems in a healthcare setting.Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, OSHA, and VA regulations.Work with low- and high-voltage systems (up to 480V) and ensure proper grounding, bonding, and safety protocols.Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and clinical staff to support facility upgrades, renovations, and emergency repairs.Document work orders, maintenance activities, and compliance reports using the VA's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).Respond promptly to electrical emergencies (e.g., power outages, equipment failures) to minimize disruptions to patient care.Mentor apprentices and provide guidance on VA safety protocols and best practices.*Valid California Journeyman or Master Electrician License.3+ years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical systems, preferably in healthcare, government, or institutional facilities.Thorough knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and California electrical codes.Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.Ability to use electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, circuit analyzers).Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.Valid driver's license and ability to pass a federal background check.Commitment to the VA mission of serving Veterans.Preferred *Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or medical equipment infrastructure.OSHA 30-Hour Certification.Prior federal/VA facilities experience.Physical ****Must be able to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.Comfortable working in varied environments (mechanical rooms, patient care areas, rooftops).
