The company is seeking an Engineering Technician. This position will complement the growth the company is experiencing. This role requires a detailed and organized individual capable of using principles and theories of engineering to solve technical problems in research and development and manufacturing. The Engineering Technician will focus on the application-oriented functions of our products by assisting the Engineers through conducting testing, inspecting products or processes, collecting data, and calculating and reporting results. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively within the production and engineering departments and must work with great detail and a sense of urgency. Reporting RelationshipThe position will report to the Director of Engineering.Objectives and ResponsibilitiesThe role of the Engineering Technician is primarily to provide support for the Engineering staff. The successful Engineering Technician will look for ways to offload the Engineering staff whenever possible. The primary objectives of the Engineering Technician are to: Assist Engineers in design, development, testing and manufacturing of Sealevel products Prepare and conduct experiments, collect data, calculate or record results for engineering and product researchPerform engineering analysis of new third-party productsAssist engineers with environmental analysis and testing of new productsCreate reports of analysis and experiments work Build prototypes and perform engineering modifications to Sealevel products Work in product evaluation and testing, using measuring and diagnostic and electrical equipment Perform hardware repairs as required Create mechanical prototypes and modifications as required Assist Engineers in the maintenance of product BOMsComponent cross researchBOM data entry BOM database management Perform simple to complex mechanical fabrications and modifications for prototypes.Perform any other work- related duties that may be assigned.CompetenciesHave the flexibility to adapt to business conditions to achieve corporate goals and meet customer demand Possess the ability to interact with other departments within organization, to ensure that internal customer demands are met Have a can-do attitude and show interest in learning more about technology Be driven and results oriented with a positive outlookHave experience with schematic capture and layout software Altium Designer Have familiarity with PCI, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485 and common digital I/O Have experience in building circuit boards, as well as, repairing circuit boards.· Have soldering knowledge and experience (board level SM and through-hole components).Be comfortable and able to operate in a dynamic environmentBe competent in basic Microsoft tools like Excel, Work, Power Point. Be able to react to changes and handle requests from different sources (multi-task) Have demonstrated experience with product prototyping Be well versed in the scientific method Be competent at reading electrical schematics Be able to create simple board schematics StyleBe organized and detail oriented.Work effectively in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.Be able to communicate clearly with other departments within the organization.Work successfully as a team player.Possess strong time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.The above describes the general job requirements.
