Chief Lending Officer Department: Lending Grade: 16 Reports To: CEORole:Lead the Lending Department, including commercial, mortgage, consumer lending and collections to meet credit union goals and objectives. Direct and coordinate all lending activities ensuring compliance with regulations and credit union policy.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Culture/Brand - Champion Heart of Louisianas culture standards and brand and coach the lending department to live the brand.Goals - Focus the Lending department to meet or exceed the strategic, budget and growth plan, and marketing goals. Monitor progress and provide valuable reports on lending and collections to the CEO.Staff Development - Coach and develop direct reports and ensure effective communication. Work with other departments to oversee training to ensure that all lending staff are thoroughly trained on lending products, procedures and policies.Policy/Strategy - Develop, propose, and gain acceptance for and implement the lending policy, underwriting standards and strategy. Responsible for risk-based pricing and risk management. Keep abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in lending and react to changes in a way that maintains competitiveness.Regulation - Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.Product Delivery and Quality - Research and propose new products. Monitor product delivery and quality and take action to resolve problems. Oversee vendor management for all lending and collections related vendors, including those with other Heart vendor relationship managers.Executive Team - Serve on the Executive Team of the credit union, providing a lending perspective on strategy, goals, programs and policies.Perform other duties as assigned.Performance Measurements:1. Exemplify Hearts culture standards. Develop an understanding of credit union history and philosophy. Promote positive attitudes in all staff and foster an environment of collaboration and teambuilding.2. Motivate and lead a high-performance team.3. Keep the CEO informed of all key issues affecting the department.4. Communicate properly with staff to ensure positive and clear understanding of credit union goals and objectives.5. Provide an "Open door" atmosphere for your staff and utilize a positive management style.Requirements:Experience: More than five years of similar or related experience.Education: Bachelors DegreeInterpersonal Skills:The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job. Maintains a calm and courteous demeanor in demanding situations.Other Skills:Must have an in-depth understanding of and ability to interpret regulations affecting lending programs. Extensive knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending processes. Extensive knowledge of loan participation, purchase agreements and secondary market investment programs.
