Plan, design and oversee construction of structures and infrastructure, such as roads, airports, dams, irrigation projects, water supply and sewerage systems. This position will place a greater emphasis on water supply and distribution, sanitary sewer collection and treatment and storm drainage systems.Requirements:Bachelors degree or higher from EAC/ABET accredited University in a related fieldValid drivers license2+ years' civil engineering experience2+ years' public works experienceNevada Professional Engineer or EIT certification (preferred)Experience with AutoCAD (preferred)Benefits:Employer-paid medical insuranceEmployer-paid dental and vision insuranceEmployer-paid short-term and long-term disability InsuranceEmployer-paid life InsuranceGenerous PTO and paid holidays401(k) with 4% matchingEmployer-paid parental leave programBonus programAnd MORE!Job Duties:Adhere to the Mission Statement and Core ValuesWork under the direction of the Executive Vice PresidentNurture existing client relationships and pursue company growth through business developmentCompute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specificationsProvide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairsPlan and design hydraulic systems or structures using various computer softwareAnalyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic dataInspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standardsPlan and conduct field surveys to analyze details of project site conditionsReport and document for design purposes results of field surveysDesign water, pumping facilities, wastewater, storm and general utilitiesAssist Public Works Department with design as neededPursue new clients or agencies for in water works jobsIdentify engineering problems and assess potential project impactCalculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities using calculator or computerRead and review project blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of a system and material requirementsDraft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specificationsConfer with supervisor to determine project details such as design parameters, plan preparation, specification preparation, and evaluation of field conditionsPrepare reports and document project activities and dataAnalyze proposed site factors and design maps, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findingsEvaluate property and code to determine best placement of civil improvementsInspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect deficiencies and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codesFacilitate the betterment of SEC through suggestions and actionsCultivate collaboration and mentorship by performing duties on-site during business hours unless otherwise specified by supervisorCommunicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholdersWrite technical reports with precision and efficiencyRead and comprehend technical writing including code and other specificationsPrepare Statements of Qualifications and Requests for Proposals in pursuit of public works contractsAttend APWA, AWWA, AGC Committee Meetings as requested on the behalf of the corporationFollow all safety and administrative regulationsComplete Vehicle Inspection Reports when using a company vehicleComply with SEC's Employee Handbook, Safety Manual and other company policies and proceduresConduct daily time entryMaintain a clean and organized workspaceOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands: May include occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
