Location: San Fernando ValleyDepartment: Employee Health & Infection PreventionJob Type: Full-TimeReports To: Director of Infection Prevention & Employee HealthJob Summary:The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for overseeing employee health programs, ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations, and managing employee exposures and injury follow-ups. This role plays a critical part in protecting the health and safety of hospital employees by coordinating pre-employment screenings, immunizations, and exposure investigations. During downtime, the Employee Health Nurse will assist with infection prevention activities, cross-train in infection control responsibilities, and provide backup support as needed.Key Responsibilities:Employee Health & Occupational Safety:• Conduct pre-employment health screenings, vaccinations, and medical clearances.• Manage employee exposures to infectious diseases, including TB, bloodborne pathogens, and respiratory illnesses.• Perform post-exposure follow-ups, including testing, treatment coordination, and documentation.• Oversee injury reporting and follow-ups for work-related incidents in collaboration with HR and Risk Management.• Monitor employee health compliance with vaccinations (flu, COVID-19, Hepatitis B, etc.) and annual TB screenings.• Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and hospital policies.• Provide employee health education on workplace safety, infection control, and injury prevention.• Serve as a liaison between employees, physicians, and workers' compensation case managers for return-to-work evaluations.Cross-Training & Infection Prevention Support:• Assist in infection prevention rounding and audits when employee health duties allow.• Participate in surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and exposure investigations.• Support infection prevention initiatives such as hand hygiene monitoring, PPE compliance, and environmental rounding.• Provide backup coverage for infection preventionist duties, including data collection, reporting, and policy implementation.• Assist with education and training programs for hospital staff on infection control and employee health topics.Qualifications & Requirements:Education & Experience:• Registered Nurse (RN) license in CA required/ LVN • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.• Minimum of 1 year of experience in employee health, occupational health, or infection prevention in a hospital setting.• Experience managing employee exposures, injury follow-ups, and workplace safety programs.• Infection prevention experience or willingness to cross-train in infection control.Certifications:• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.• Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) required.• Infection Prevention & Control (CIC or a-IPC) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.Skills & Competencies:• Strong understanding of OSHA, CDC, and state regulations related to employee health.• Knowledge of infection prevention principles and healthcare-associated infections.• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.• Effective communication and training skills for educating hospital staff.Work Environment & Schedule:• Office-based with routine hospital rounding.• May require occasional weekend or evening hours for urgent employee health matters.• Exposure to healthcare environments, including patient care areas.Why Join Us?• Opportunity to play a key role in both employee health and infection prevention efforts.• Professional development through cross-training in infection prevention.• Work in a supportive and collaborative healthcare setting.If you are an experienced nurse with a passion for employee health and infection prevention, we encourage you to apply and be part of our team!
