We have an immediate opening for another paralegal.The Paralegal Role at Dunlap LawThis full-time, fully remote position reports directly to attorneys and works collaboratively with Dunlap Law's other paralegal and administrative team. Responsibilities include business/corporate law and back-office administrative paralegal work, while providing backup paralegal support as needed in the areas of litigation and estate planning. This position is best for someone who wants to master and spearhead essential repeatable processes. We are a little better every day.CompensationBegins at $27 per hour depending on qualification and experience; paid as salary.Health, dental, vision insurance401k with matchPTO for all federal holidays and moreESSENTIAL DUTIES HIGHLIGHTSCorporate/business paralegal tasks:Registered agent services, including preparing and filing annual SCC reports, paying annual SCC fees, receiving and forwarding process, and auditing and/ or maintaining electronic Minute Books.Reviewing client applications for SWaM, VDACS, and IRS Form 1023.Drafting, proofreading, and/or filing documents for corporate formations, dissolutions, amendments, restatements, reinstatements, resolutions, consents, and fictitious names.Attorney Support or Administrative duties:Drafting scopes of work for clients or prospective clientsEngaging directly with clients, pursuant to attorney directionPreparing, sending, and tracking mail via USPS and FedExReceiving and processing mailCoordinating couriers and process serversNotarizing documentsSending documents for eSignatureHandling incoming calls, emails, and client intakes when our Practice Manager is outAttending and facilitating events as needed, such as networking events, luncheons workshops, and firm outingsRunning ad hoc errandsLitigation paralegal tasks:Communicating with courts, including scheduling hearings and trial dates and inquiring about procedures, orders and motions, and escrow releasesSubmitting correspondence to courts, opposing parties and counsel via mail, email, and faxAssisting attorneys with monitoring and meeting court deadlinesScanning, sorting, organizing, and compiling documentsEstate planning paralegal tasks:Working with clients to obtain information necessary to complete their estate planningOrdering and filing deeds with Virginia localitiesDrafting and proofreading estate planning documentsScheduling and witnessing estate signingsPreparing and providing clients with estate planning binders and digital copies of executed estate documentsCRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Exceptional interpersonal and EQ skills which positively benefit interaction with internal teams, clients, and vendorsComfortable with and able to quickly learn new technologiesGood comprehension and communication skills, with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally and/ or in writingExcellent English language drafting and proofreading skillsOpen to and receptive to other's information, ideas, and feelings; willing to ask questions and to consider the perspectives of othersWilling to learn new skills or tasks or new ways to accomplish goals in response to changing work environments or client needsSelf-sufficient and self-motivated, with a dedication to learning, problem solving, keeping up to date technically, and applying new knowledge to your jobAbility to maintain concentration, productivity, and meet deadlines in a remote work environmentWillingness and ability to report to, be trained by, take direction and receive feedback from attorneys and/or a paralegal supervisorREQUIRED CREDENTIALS:One of the following: (i) a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program; (ii) on-the-job training; or (iii)an associate degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved programFamiliarity with the Virginia State Corporation Commission's database and knowledge with SCC-related tasksComputer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office apps (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat ProVirginia notary commission or willingness to obtain one upon hireNo less than two years of work experience as a full-time paralegal with a demonstrated history of accomplishing the Essential Duties noted aboveResidency in the metro Richmond geographic area, a valid Virginia driver's license, and a reliable vehicle to run occasional errands and attend in-person meetingsA keen eye for detail and accuracyGREAT-TO-HAVE CREDENTIALS:Advanced or ongoing education in paralegal studies, communications, marketing, business, or a related field3+ years of paralegal experience with a demonstrated history of accomplishing the Essential Duties noted aboveExperience in real estate closing transactions (commercial preferred), including independent management of closing and title agency documents Working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Teams platform, Clio Manage, Egnyte, Simplifile, and eSignature softwaresDemonstrated experience thriving in a remote work environmentDiversity is very important to us.
