Mechanical Design Engineer

This position in is Mooresville, NC just north of Charlotte, NC and is on-site in person work.IST Precision Inc. is a machine design and manufacturing company in North Carolina that was established in 2001. We focus on industrial automation equipment and have our own fabrication shop, machine design group, controls group, and panel shop.We are seeking a full-time mechanical engineer with experience in machine design, build, and testing of mechanical/electrical equipment. Operates well independentlyPreferred QualificationsAt least 3 years of experience in a design role in an industrial automation and/or machine building environmentDemonstrated talent and track record in automation and/or machine designAbility to size and specify actuators, sensors, vision systems, and other automation peripheralsBroad knowledge of materials and fabrication processes (machining, welding, etc.) and experience designing for manufacturabilityFamiliarity with controls and software concepts (e.g., PLC, VB, HMIs)Excellent problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiencesResponsibilitiesWork as part of an engineering design team to develop machine designs, including robotics, end-of-arm tooling, conveyor systems, material handling, and concepting automation processes.Develop bill of materials for machine designs.Order OEM components for machines.Build machines in ISTs facility.Draft engineering slide deck reports for IST management.Work with external suppliers, including finding and vetting suppliers.Have a solid mechanical design background, which is essential for understanding and reviewing machine designs.We are now accepting resumes for a full-time position.
