Job OverviewAn aircraft mechanic at AEVEX Aerospace is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft systems and components. They inspect and diagnose malfunctions, use power and hand tools to fix parts and ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations.Essential FunctionsPerform maintenance and alteration tasks in accordance with the current technical data, manufacturers instructions for continued airworthiness, service bulletins, and other FAA approved/acceptable dataMaintains complete and accurate maintenance records in accordance with repair station requirementsInspects structural, mechanical, and electronic elements of an aircraft using a variety of hand and power tools to assess and replace partsMaintains engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, brakes, valves, pumps, air conditioning systems, and other aircraft related systemsAble to identify, troubleshoot, and correct repairs on aircraft, its subsystems, and componentsSupports problem solving and continuous improvement effortsFollows safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environmentEnsures all work is done efficiently and adheres to aviation safety regulations and industry best practicesMaintains a clean work environment in full compliance with company standards and customer and government regulationsPerforms other related duties as assignedStandard Essential FunctionsRegular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the companys policies and practices.Embodies AEVEXs cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.Qualifications and CompetenciesExperience in maintaining aircraft system componentsThorough understanding of technical manualsAbility to work from printsAbility to recognize aircraft discrepancies and troubleshootStrong knowledge of standard aircraft maintenance practicesStrong ability to understand QA processes, parts identification and control tagsWorking knowledge of airframe structures and power plant systemsBasic understanding of electrical systems and wiring diagramsAbility to lead others or assist in leading othersThorough understanding of shop equipment and specialty toolsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with direct supervisionDetailed oriented, organized and a team playerAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a time sensitive industryEducation / CertificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent education requiredA&P certification preferredExperienceMinimum 3 years aviation experience as a mechanicMilitary aviation experience a plusPhysical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
