Take Off-Estimator

A leading mechanical contractor in the DFW area is seeking an experienced Take-Off Estimator with a strong background in piping systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing accurate quantity take-offs, assisting in bid preparation, and ensuring cost-effective material procurement. This role requires expertise in mechanical piping systems for commercial and industrial projects.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed piping take-offs, including materials, labor, and equipment, from project blueprints and specifications.Work closely with the estimating team to develop competitive and accurate bids.Utilize Trimble, AutoBid, and other industry-specific software for take-offs and estimating.Review project documents to ensure alignment with mechanical scope and client requirements.Identify cost-saving opportunities, potential risks, and value engineering options.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to support project execution.Maintain and update material pricing databases to ensure accurate cost estimations.Qualifications & Experience3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, with a focus on piping take-offs.Experience working with a mechanical contractor in the commercial or industrial sector.Proficiency in Trimble, AutoBid, and/or Revit MEP is preferred.Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems, materials, and installation methods.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and project specifications.Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience estimating piping systems for healthcare, industrial, or data center projects.Knowledge of local building codes and mechanical standards in Texas.Familiarity with additional estimating software is a plus.
