Director of Retail SalesReports to:CEO. Director of Club Operations/AGM. Salary/Benefits: Competitive base, plus commission, bonus and full range of benefitsSchedule: Availability during peak retail times, including evenings and weekends, may be required to accommodate member events. A five day work week is envisaged (Tuesday to Saturday), approximately 50 hours per week is expected for this role. Position OverviewThe Director of Retail Sales at Richland is responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail merchandise operations within the Club, including the Golf Shop, Tennis, Hospitality, Leisure & Fitness departments. This role ensures a premier shopping experience for members and guests by managing inventory, sourcing products, setting pricing, coordinating displays, and driving revenue growth while upholding Richland's brand standards, while delivering exceptional personal service while embodying our culture and values. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong blend of product knowledge and operational expertise, ideally with a passion for the game of golf.The position will collaborate closely with the CEO, Head Golf Professional, Director of Operations, and other key departments to align retail strategy with member preferences and Richland's mission as a premier club, as well as integrates buying for all Golf club events, tournaments, and member engagement activities. Your leadership will foster a culture of teamwork, enabling a seamless experience for members and guests.Additionally, you will oversee inventory management, sales forecasting, and staff training to ensure all retail outlets operate efficiently and effectively. Implementing strategic marketing initiatives, including promotions and special events, will be key to driving sales and enhancing the visibility of the retail sales as a valuable amenity for our members.Key Responsibilities:· Manage all aspects of retail operations, including product selection, inventory management, and sales forecasting, to achieve annual sales goals.· Drive a profitable and member-focused retail environment, ensuring that our offerings enhance the overall club experience.· Collaborate closely with the team to develop and execute a comprehensive business plan, setting projections and goals. · Develop buying plans on sales analysis, member feedback, trends, and alignment with Richland's brand.· Engage with members to understand their needs, driving sales initiatives and enhancing member loyalty through exceptional service.· Oversee labor management, overhead costs, and inventory control to maintain operational efficiency and profitability.· Proactively expand retail outreach through special events, trunk shows, and facilitating special orders to enhance member engagement.· Source, order, and manage inventory across multiple departments to meet member preferences and seasonal needs. Monitor product sales, member preferences, and market trends to adjust buying decisions and optimize sales.· Maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and participate in trade shows or vendor meetings.· Gather and act on member feedback to continually improve retail offerings.· Create and maintain visually appealing product displays in all relevant retail spaces to enhance the shopping experience.· Refresh displays regularly to reflect seasonal themes, events, and promotions.· Partner with the Director of Operations and Marketing/Communications team on promotional initiatives.· Establish a new online buying platform.· Maintain accurate inventory records, manage stock levels, and conduct regular inventory counts across all retail areas.· Monitor and report on sales metrics, identifying trends and making recommendations for adjustments.· Train and oversee retail staff on best practices for merchandising, customer service, and POS system use.Skills/Qualifications:· Education: Bachelor's degree in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.· Experience: 3+ years in retail management, with experience in high-end or private club settings preferred; familiarity with golf and recreation merchandise is a plus.· Proven leadership experience in retail or hospitality, with a strong understanding of merchandise selection.· Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for providing outstanding customer service.· A collaborative team player who can integrate retail into the overall member experience.· Strong knowledge of retail buying, visual merchandising, and inventory management.· Proficiency in POS systems (Jonas), Microsoft Office Suite, and merchandising software.· Excellent communication and customer service skills.· Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.Personal AttributesIntegrity: Demonstrates ethical behavior, honesty, and consistency in all interactions, fostering trust and credibility with members, vendors, and team members.Passion for Service: Exhibits enthusiasm and dedication in creating memorable experiences for members, continually seeking ways to exceed expectations.Excellence: Sets and maintains high standards, paying attention to detail and striving for quality and improvement in all areas of merchandise management.Innovation: Shows creativity and openness to new ideas, adapting merchandising strategies and sourcing products that align with current trends and member preferences.Unity and Teamwork: Works collaboratively with various departments, promoting open communication and mutual respect to ensure Pine Canyon's brand values are reflected across all areas.Fun and Positivity: Brings a positive, energetic attitude to the role, contributing to a welcoming environment that makes the club experience enjoyable for both members and team members.
