Job Summary: Elecnor Hawkeye is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Hauppauge, New York. In this role, you will support the execution of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, focusing on substations, transmission lines, battery energy storage systems, and renewable energy projects. You will be responsible for overseeing engineering efforts, performing electrical calculations, supporting procurement, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project schedules. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in the energy sector while contributing to the growth of the renewable energy market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, specifically in substation design, and possess proficiency with CAD software, engineering calculations, and project management tools.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and support external engineering efforts, providing technical guidance based on project requirements, schedules, and budgets.Ensure safety, constructability, and compliance with technical specifications, schedules, budgets, and regulatory requirements.Lead electrical calculations and engineering efforts (up to 30%), supporting the estimating team during the bidding process.Support procurement by conducting technical evaluations of quotations and supplier proposals.Assist the construction team during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).Develop and modify CAD sketches/drawings to assist the construction and procurement teams.Ensure quality control of engineering and electrical work on-site.Assist the Quality Department in developing technical construction procedures, checklists, and validation forms.Evaluate new and existing technologies and suppliers for project integration.Prepare and coordinate project-specific engineering documents, including design plans, requirements, specifications, and changes, by customer-specified procedures and templates.Maintain project-specific engineering deliverables, ensuring they are updated in line with the project schedule.Liaise with engineering discipline leads, sub-contractors, and customers to ensure that design products are delivered on schedule and by specifications.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering within a Utility or Electrical Construction Firm, specializing in Substation Design, including:Layouts and sectionsMV and HV equipment detailsGround grid calculations, layout, and detailsProtection & Control (P&C) schematics, single-line diagrams, and three-line diagramsWiring schematicsProficiency in the NEC for cable, EGC, conduit, raceway, LV panels, and underground cable design & calculations preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical staff and project stakeholders.Practical experience providing innovative solutions to complex engineering issues.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.Knowledge of MS Office for project documentation and reporting.Familiarity with MS Project and/or Primavera for project scheduling.Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or other CAD software for design and modeling.Knowledge of testing standards, including NETA.Experience with MATLAB/Mathcad, ETAP, and/or CAPE for engineering calculations and simulations preferred.Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
