Atema is hiring a Fabrication Engineering Quality Consultant to provide quality services to the construction industry, particularly the work of DOTs, agencies, and transit authorities. Ideal candidates possess expertise in one or more areas of engineering, welding, structural steel, precast concrete, prestressed concrete, construction management, supplier auditing, and assessment. Alternatively, candidates may have industry experience working for inspection firms or holding quality management positions in construction or fabrication companies. Approximate Position Start Date: ImmediatePosition Location: Onsite at Atema Company Headquarters Chicago, IL. Alternate possibilities exist, i.e. from a home office with reoccurring travel to our Chicago Office. Travel is expected at 25-60% depending on project assignments.Company Background: Atema (ref. ) is a global quality sciences consulting firm specializing in the construction and structural steel industry, alongside our sibling organization, DOT Quality Services (ref. ), which is an accredited certification body for international standards. Main Job Function and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be able to effectively engage with client personnel at different levels involved in construction projects. In addition, possessing skills necessary to guide managers of small erection and fabrication companies in achieving compliance with industry codes and standards. Strong project prioritization and problem-solving abilities are crucial.Qualifications: Excellent communication and writing skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues. Demonstrated professionalism and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive project information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat.Preferred Credentials: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification and ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification.Preferred Experience (in one or more of the following):· Three or more years of project management experience in structural projects.· Minimum of 5 years working in a leadership position within a Quality Management System in the fabrication or construction industry sector.· Three or more years of fabrication technical engineering experience, or in a resident engineer position in a transit or transportation construction project.Other Requirements:Due to the requirements of the position, candidates must be capable of providing services in active construction sites, client fabrication or manufacturing locations and remotely from an office setting.The position requires employees to stand, walk, bend, climb, reach above shoulder and push or pull functions. Employees must be alert to equipment in a shop environment; occasionally need towork near hazardous equipment and machinery; occasionally need to walk on uneven ground,exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, exposure to outdoor temperatures. Within office settings, employees will be required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
