This position supports the engineering staff in all aspects of mechanical design from concept to development, validation and detailed design, requiring a fair amount of autonomy and hands-on activity. The primary focus of this position is design leadership, with an emphasis on supporting new business development efforts and mentorship of junior engineers, with minimal direct oversight required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Conceptualizes, develops, and designs structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems in accordance with customer requirements and customary standardsPerforms required calculations, analysis, and comprehensive tolerance stack-up analysesSupports the engineering group while leading in all aspects of mechanical designLeads design efforts on systems and sub-systems, often on multiple programs simultaneouslySupports proposal, quick-turn concept design and presentation efforts through CAD models and illustrationsEducation/ExperienceB.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace EngineeringTypically possesses 6+ years aerospace and/or defense experienceExposure to electromechanical systemsQualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.Proven experience in leading product development tests, including qualification test seriesProficient in the use of data acquisition systems and instrumentationBackground and experience with heat transfer, structural analysis, dynamics/ kinematics, advanced high-strength materials, CAD and machine designProficient in SolidWorksexperience with Geometric Dimensioning and TolerancingMust be a U.S. citizen and hold or be able to obtain a DoD SECRETSalary Range: $115K - $155KThe actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.Location: On-site in Mukilteo, WANote: Due to the nature of the work, only US Persons (citizens or permanent residents) need apply for this positionALTEN Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
