We are looking for a Senior HVAC Design Engineer with a science & technology or healthcare focus in our dynamic New York City office.As a SeniorHVAC Design Engineer, you will be working on cutting edge projects in the Science and Technology as well as healthcare and Commercial space. Some of your responsibilities as a Senior HVAC Design Engineer include the following: Lead the technical development of HVAC systems for large and complex projects including Science & Technology, Academic, and Commercial sector.Formulate design criteria, perform calculations, develop concept designs, specifications, and construction documents for high performance building systems Supervise and effectively manage technical development throughout all phases of design assuring tasks are completed in accordance with company standards and good engineering practice.Develops mechanical plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasksTechnically involved in the resolution of design problems that may include performing filed investigation or inspectionsKnowledge and experience with mechanical calculations, equipment selection, ductwork layout, hydronic systems, and construction documents.Understand Revit to allow leadership and direction for the design teams.Attend field visits, develop visit reports, meet with contractors, as necessary.Mentorship of Junior Engineers.Every Vanderweil Engineers team member brings something unique to the table. Here is what we are looking for with this role:Essential Skills & Requirements 10+ years of experience designing HVAC systems in high performance facilities. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceExperience leading HVAC teams on technically challenging projectsCommunication, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skillsBackground in either commercial, mission critical data centers, or hospitality is a plus.Professional commitment to sustainability, LEED accreditation is a plus.Professional Engineering license is a preferred.
