Position: Senior Job CaptainLocation: Phoenix, AZPay: $90-95k + bonusIndustry: Architecture Overview:The Job Captain is a design professional experienced and responsible for the overall successful execution of project deliverables and is accountable to the Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, or Project Architect.The Job Captain oversees the preparation of construction documents for a project and functions as a project coordinator as assigned to firm projects. The Job Captain must have a diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices, ability to use advanced techniques, and is responsible for finished plans, specifications, and material approval. This position may also supervise a small staff of technicians. Key to the success of the Job Captain is an understanding of architectural design and building systems and the ability to collaborate with the Project Manager for project completion while ensuring profitable projects.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesUnderstand contractual requirements.Ensure design complies with regulatory, code, and client requirements - provide quality assurance reviews.Assist Senior Project Manager/Project Manager in the preparation of project schedules, memos, correspondence and conference notes.Assist Senior Project Manager/Project Manager in leading internal and external project meetings with project team to ensure understanding of scope of services, project budget, and project schedule and team goals.Communicate and coordinate drawings with consultantsAssist in refining design concepts utilizing various mediums to convey the information to the client and the project team.Prepare construction documents with limited assistance or oversight from Senior Project Manager or Project Manager. May be assigned particular segments such as floor plans, sections, details, or elevations.Revise drawings as necessary; prepare and issue written document changes to consultants; review submittals for items such as store fronts, windows, elevators and precast items.Assist Senior Project Manager/Project Manager in the review of shop drawings; receive drawings from vendors for particular products and equipment; review specifications in meeting project needs; study feasibility of fit; assess problems and recommend solutions.Participate in Construction Shadow Program.May perform job site visits, review construction compliance with working drawings; communicate what is on paper and how it works in the field and in practice; assess problems and recommend solutions.Mentor the project team to understand building systems.Assure project files and reporting is maintained.Assist in marketing the firm by successfully managing projects, attending interviews when applicable, etc.Understand how the Project Team roles impact the financial drivers of the project and effectively manage time as appropriate for each task.Work closely with Project Manager to monitor project progress against financial performance (i.e., Project Budget Reports).Requirements:Possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.5+ years of relevant experience preparing construction drawings.Possess a thorough understanding of building codes, materials and construction methods, and knowledge of procedures for production of construction documents.Has an understanding of company standards, policies, and procedures.Must be able to communicate graphically using a variety of mediums including hand drawings and BIM/REVIT/CAD.Demonstrates a willingness to participate in firm/professional societies and technical advisory committees.
