We provide in-space domain awareness and in-space servicing solutions for governments and businesses. iMETALX is looking for an engineer to join the team to work on cross-domain applications focusing on In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM). This will span areas around spacecraft autonomy, such as world view, perception, and controls, as well as testing and deploying the software on real systems. Focus on Computer Vision is desired, exposure and work on RL and DNN, or Robotics is greatly desired as well. Within the scope of the above applications, being a strong software developer that can work to take prototype code to production quality. In addition, the expertise around Electrical Engineering will focus on the integration of the software stack on satellites and their requisite systems.Role Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile engineer with expertise spanning software development and electrical engineering to contribute to cutting-edge projects at the intersection of machine learning, and embedded systems for In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM). The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in software development, machine learning, and electrical engineering, coupled with hands-on experience in deploying and testing software and hardware systems in real-world scenarios. Examples include robotics, autonomous cars, drones, and other Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) constrained systems. Key Responsibilities:Software Engineering:Develop and implement AI and machine learning models using tools such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.Design and optimize algorithms in areas like computer vision, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.Conduct software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to validate performance and robustness.Prototype, test, and refine software solutions for deployment on edge compute devices and embedded systems.Electrical Engineering:Design, develop, and troubleshoot PCBs, including layout and testing.Integrate and deploy software on hardware systems such as FPGAs and other edge computing devices.Utilize industry-standard electrical engineering tools for design, simulation, and testing.Conduct hardware testing and debugging to ensure system integrity and performance.System Integration and Testing:Collaborate on end-to-end system integration and ensure seamless deployment of software and hardware solutions.Design and execute testing protocols for both software and hardware components, identifying and resolving issues proactively.Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to iterate and improve prototypes.Preferred Qualifications and Experience:Experience in robotics or autonomous vehicle systems, including perception, controls, and system deployment.Deep knowledge of SW/HW integration for real-world applications, including edge computing and embedded solutions.Familiarity with robotic frameworks, autonomous vehicle platforms, or related technologies.Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++.Expertise in prototyping and deploying systems for high-reliability environments.Strong analytical skills and a track record of solving complex technical challenges.Skills and Tools:Machine Learning: PyTorch, TensorFlow, reinforcement learning.Electrical Design: PCB layout, embedded system design, EE design tools.Testing: SW/HW testing, SIL/HIL methodologies.Robotics/Autonomy: World view, Perception, Control/BehaviorWhat We're Looking For:An innovator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to transformative projects in cutting-edge technology domains.
