We provide an integrated design and construction process for projects such as new kitchens, baths, additions, or entire house remodels. Our system makes us accountable for the entire project, ensuring that we stay within your budget and deliver exceptional results. We are located in Davis, but also serve Woodland, Sacramento, and Yolo County.Role DescriptionThe Project Designer (PD) is primarily responsible for providing award-winning designs and direct project management throughout the design process. MAK's remodeling projects range from full bathroom projects to whole house remodels and construction. The PD must understand MAK's unique design and build process and take projects from concept to completion. The PD is responsible for producing drawings as part of finding creative and effective solutions to complex residential remodeling problems. In addition, the PD is responsible for understanding the homeowners' project goals, proposing effective design solutions, tracking the project estimate, communicating budget updates to clients, and efficiently organizing MAK resources throughout the design process. The role is primarily located in Davis, California, with flexibility for some remote work.QualificationsExperience with submittals, construction drawings, and space planningKnowledge of architecture and project managementAttention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesProficiency in AutoCAD or similar design softwareExcellent communication and collaboration skillsBachelors degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related fieldMinimum 3-5 years of residential construction design experienceAbility to draw detailed plan sets and write project specification documents that clearly articulate the project details to the construction staff members in the field.ResponsibilitiesMeet with homeowners to understand their goals for the project and unique needs, lead clients through the entire design process with expert knowledge and empathyDevelop conceptual design solutions and refine them through computer modeling (our team uses Vectorworks)Collaborate with the Production Manager and Trade partners on budget solutions and communicate budget updates to clients at each design meetingManage the selection process with clients for fixtures and finishesCommunicate with subcontractors and vendors to gather information on trade-specific design details, scope of work specifications, and cost estimates for each projectDevelop permit-ready construction drawings and prepare final construction contract documents before transitioning clients from design to constructionSupport production staff members throughout the construction phase of each of your projects as neededDesired Traits/SkillsStrong project management and organizational skillsAbility to work well under pressure and manage multiple projectsExcellent verbal, written, and visual communication skillsWe offer competitive benefits and compensation packages, including paid time off, health insurance, 401k matching, profit-sharing, and mileage reimbursement.
