Contract Litigation Paralegal

We are seeking a talented contract paralegal to join our dynamic team. The Paralegal's primary goal is to support our Attorneys by assisting with legal research, drafting memos, pleadings, motions, and orders, and preparing for hearings and trials, under the direction of one or more Attorneys in the office.This is a contract position where opportunities will arise on an "as-needed" basis (e.g. projects, drafting, discovery). However, for the right candidate, an opportunity to transition to a part-time, and possibly full-time, role, is eminently plausible as the Firm is very busy.Responsibilities:- Perform case work including:Organize, sort, and summarize case information and filesDraft letters, reports and first draft documents for attorney reviewPrepare legal documents for meetings/ depositions/ hearingsPrepare discovery and responses to discovery demandsPerform legal research, draft discovery motions and drafts of pleadings- Assist with filings in both state and federal court, making sure all deadlines are metAdditional responsibilities may include:-Ensure calendar deadlines and case milestones are added to the firm's master calendar in the Case Management System and ensure no deadlines are missed- Review upcoming daily, weekly, and monthly appointments, court appearances and tasks to prioritize workload- Triage client communications to follow up via phone and email as required- Contemporaneously enter billable time into the Case Management SystemExperience:4 years minimum commercial litigation experience required, working on New York centric cases (State and Federal Court).Must be familiar with E-Filing on Pacer and NYSCEFSalary Range: $40- $55 per hour, heavily dependent upon experience.
