The Staking Technician will work closely with the Construction Manager to complete construction engineering projects. Applicants that are hired by MGC will be trained from the ground up on industry standards.Job SummaryWe are seeking an Entry-Level Staker to assist with field surveys and data collection for fiber optic projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in fiber optic construction, utility surveying, or OSP engineering.ResponsibilitiesAssist in conducting field surveys to determine fiber optic cable routes.Record measurements, GPS coordinates, and basic site details.Identify and document existing utility poles, underground utilities, and other obstacles.Mark proposed fiber routes in the field using stakes or paint.Take photos and notes to support engineering and permitting teams.Work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel to different project sites.Communicate with team members to ensure accurate data collection.QualificationsWe encourage candidates of all levels of experience to apply, as we are open to considering both entry-level and experienced individuals.High school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.Demonstrated physical fitness and stamina to meet the demands of on-site utility surveys and fieldwork in adverse weather conditions.Ability to read basic maps or construction plans (preferred but not required).Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with utility owners, construction team members and the general public in challenging field conditions.Familiarity with NESC codes and regulations preferred but not required.Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time, depending on project needs. Some overnight travel may be required.
