Peterson Cat has a need for a Parts Manager at our Hillsboro, OR location. SUMMARYThis position sets the complete direction for the Peterson's Parts Department, which includes, but is not limited to, managing and supervising all areas of the Parts Department; promote profitability at the PADE level and control expenses. This position is responsible for ensuring adequate parts inventory maintenance and replenishment and establishing sales and gross profit goals for the sales team. Works closely with the Service, Sales, and Credit departments. Coordinates and cooperates with other departments and branches across the company, and interfaces with employees, customers, vendors, and Caterpillar representatives.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Other duties may be assigned.Develop highly engaged and collaborative team to maintain high level and quality of customer service and satisfaction; address customer needs and concerns; ensure speed, efficiency, and accuracy of parts sales transactions.Supervise parts inventory, making necessary adjustments to ensure sufficient on-hand quantities; ensure proper receiving and accounting of parts orders; report all stock order discrepancies.Supervise paperwork flow and distribution of forms, reports, and other documents required to accomplish duties.Interview, hire, train, supervise, and discipline employees. Evaluate performance and conduct performance appraisals of employees on a regular basis, as well as, promote learning opportunities for employee growth. Recommend wage increases, ensure adherence to company policies and regulations, and maintain high level of productivity and morale.Promote a safe working environment, correcting situations, which are detrimental to safety or health in the workplace. Provide or arrange for first aid for injured employees; report industrial injuries as required; maintain good departmental housekeeping (5-star contamination control).Participate in departmental budget development; maintain expenses and operating cost within budget projections and guidelines.Maintain necessary records and reports. Must be able to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; conduct various employee meetings.Remain current on parts products and maintain a working knowledge of company products related to Parts. Keep current on developments in related fields; participate in company sponsored development activities.Responsible for safety program. Must assist in the coordination and actively participate in the branch safety committee. Ensure staff member attendance at weekly/monthly safety/tailgate meetings. Participate in branch/store inspections as required. Promote a "total safety culture" with all employees. Ensure that 1st responders are available and have up to date certifications in case of a 1st aid emergency.Responsible for maintaining up to date "emergency action plan" for branch location and training employees on the contents and procedures of the emergency action plan.Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time to company subsidiaries as required.Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.QUALIFICATIONSBachelors Degree from a fully accredited college in Business or other closely related field; and a minimum of five years of directly related experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license, with an acceptable driving record and have access to reliable transportation.
