Senior Principal RF System Engineer for 5G mmWaveSan Deigo As a Senior Principal RF System Engineer for 5G mmWave, you will lead and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of advanced mmWave RF systems for 5G base stations. You will collaborate closely with teams across RFIC, antenna array engineers, modem systems, and software engineering to ensure the successful performance and deployment of these systems.Key Responsibilities5G mmWave Base Station System Design: Lead the design, specification derivation, and development of mmWave base stations.Link Budget Analysis: Use tools such as MATLAB, ADS, and spreadsheets to calculate link budgets, considering path loss, fading, antenna gains, and noise figures. Optimize for optimal system performance.RFIC Specifications: Develop specifications for RFIC devices to achieve the best key performance indicators (KPIs).Beamforming and Massive MIMO: Design and optimize beamforming antenna systems and massive MIMO configurations to improve mmWave network coverage, capacity, and spectral efficiency.Modulator and Demodulator Architecture: Contribute to modulator and demodulator designs for efficient data transmission and reception.Analog and Digital Filter Design: Design and optimize filters to meet mmWave system requirements, addressing channel bandwidth and interference.Testing and Validation: Plan and execute system testing to validate performance, and analyze results to recommend improvements.Research and Innovation: Keep up-to-date with the latest in 5G, mmWave, ORAN, and 5G Layer 1 specifications. Apply your expertise to introduce innovative solutions to improve system performance.RequirementsEducation: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on mmWave RF, signal processing, transmission lines, and beamforming antennas.Industry Experience: 15+ years in RF system design, including at least 5 years working with mmWave base stations, CPE, or UE.Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of 5GNR, 3GPP requirements, beamforming antennas, massive MIMO, modulator and demodulator architectures, analog and digital filtering, and waveforms impact on system performance.Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering collaboration and driving projects to successful outcomes.Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
