Cell Engineer

Job **Gotion is seeking a highly motivated Cell Development Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, OH. In this role, you will focus on developing advanced lithium-ion battery cell chemistry tailored for Electric Vehicle (EV) and Energy Storage System (ESS) applications. You will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and validating innovative cell chemistries that meet customer and market demands for high energy density, safety, long cycle life, and cost-effectiveness.• Develop and optimize advanced lithium-ion cell chemistries for EV and ESS applications, including cathodes, anodes, electrolytes, and separators.• Conduct lab-scale material screening and formulate electrode designs to achieve performance targets for energy density, cycle life, safety, and cost.• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to translate laboratory-scale designs into prototype and pilot-scale cells.• Perform electrochemical and materials testing to evaluate cell performance and identify degradation mechanisms.• Analyze test data and propose solutions for improving cell design and performance.• Work closely with US OEM customers to understand their requirements and incorporate them into cell development activities.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing and quality to ensure scalability and production feasibility of developed chemistries.• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in battery materials and technologies.***• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field.• Minimum 3 years of experience in lithium-ion battery cell development, with a focus on materials research and cell chemistry.• Strong knowledge of battery materials, electrochemistry, and degradation mechanisms.• Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, DSC, and TGA.• Proficiency in electrochemical testing methods like EIS, CV, and GCD.• Demonstrated ability to design, analyze, and optimize lithium-ion cell performance.• Experience with scale-up processes, from lab to pilot to production, is a strong plus.• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Why Join Gotion?At Gotion, we are shaping the future of energy storage by developing cutting-edge lithium-ion battery solutions for EV and ESS applications.
