Job OverviewTo play a role in the design production for the firm, working with other team members, striving for a final product produced efficiently to the satisfaction of the client with minimal cost while maintaining our high-quality standards. The position requires strong teaming skills, willingness to work as required to meet project schedules, and a strong understanding of product quality.Typical Work ActivitiesPerform design work for projectsAssist engineers, project managers, senior designers, field staff, administration and other team members as requiredCoordination with team members to collect design data, including site visits as requiredPerform basic electrical calculations such as circuit and load calculations, voltage drop, conduit and conductor sizing, and overcurrent protection sizingConversion of design data into design documentsLighting fixture schedule creation based on limited selection assistance from inhouse staff (primarily specialty applications)Photometric calculations as required for proper application of lighting fixturesApplication of relevant building and electrical codesProject design and drawing preparation Compliance with office drawing standards and quality control measuresClient, design team, utility, and contractor interface in support of projectsAssistance to others for construction administration task - response to RFIs, incorporating design changes, review of submittals, and occasional site visitsAssisting with project drawing/file organization and dead-filingDuties, Tasks, ResponsibilitiesProject development from concept to complete design, with limited assistance from inhouse staffCoordination with other members of the design team, utilities and others as necessary for successful projectsParticipation in meetings (virtual and in-person), including accurate documentationGood customer service - responsive to and positive attitude toward clients and team members (internal and external)Self improvement/growth - continuing education to maintain competence and improve expertiseWilling to work overtime as required to support project schedulesSkillsProficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Visual, EDR and Microsoft Office Suite Attention to detailSound work ethicKnowledge of electrical and lighting systems designWork efficiently and accurately in a chaotic, deadline driven environmentGood oral and written communication skillsPractical and creativeVery knowledgeable of IBC, NFPA, NEC and other applicable codesMust be able to competently work on many projects at onceAble to work independently being a self-starter and as part of a teamInterested in computing and technical designKnowledge of computers, plotting and systems related to engineering designAble to identify, analyze and solve problems
