Director of Program OperationsORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:Food For Thought is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Florida, serving Walton and Okaloosa Counties. Our mission is to combat child hunger through five year-round programs designed to mitigate the negative effects of food insecurity on children in grades K-12.Since 2010, Food For Thought has been dedicated to fighting child hunger and currently serves 36 schools in Walton and Okaloosa Counties. Our programs reach over 3,600 students each week through our backpack services and classes at the Emeril Lagasse Full-Circle Kitchen.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Director of Program Operations is the senior leader of the program team and program activities. The Director is the leader of the day-to-day organizational operations and will lead the people and the process to ensure program success. There is a heavy emphasis on team management and development, and upholding the standards of performance across all programs.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Director of Program Operations is the senior leader of the program staff and is accountable for the overall program execution.The Director is responsible for the operational success of the organization ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. The Director will manage the program team of both hourly and salaried employees.Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of work. Actively engage and energize volunteers to support the training and retention of this program component.Provide consistent coaching and evaluation of the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all direct reports Implement a professional development program to address employee experience and skill gapsInstill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organizational performance standards.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSQualified candidates will hold a passion and excitement for the mission, vision, and values of the organization.Candidates must have at least five years of experience in a senior leadership role with at least three direct reports.Nonprofit experience is preferred but not required.Experience managing multiple locations.Proven experience in staff developmentStrong and tested critical thinking skillsStrong and tested delegation and accountability skillsCapacity to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritiesWillingness to work across our service area in Walton and Okaloosa Counties The Director of Operations must be able to work around the needs of the program and should expect to work at least 45 hours per weekAreas of FocusStaff Leadership and Development: Responsible for direct reportsMaintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates talented employeesProvide regular coaching, development, and performance feedback.Oversee the onboarding and training of all direct reportManage a schedule to meet the needs of the programs while upholding payroll budgetsHold regular meetings with the team, and one on one's for ongoing developmentUphold the mission and purpose of the organizationIdentify hiring needs and work proactively to maintain a full, qualified, staffInspect the expectations and performance outcomes of the teamProviding timely and effective feedback to improve employee performanceEnsure ongoing programmatic excellence, with rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of program execution within the organizational expectationProvide timely and transparent feedback to the CEO regarding employee performance.Program Leadership & Management:Actively engage the team to ensure program successOnsite for all program activitiesWork across all locationsOversee the volunteer training, communication, scheduling, and engagement to achieve volunteer goalsMaintain accurate food and supply inventoryProvide effective planning to provide a path for team successUphold the organizational standards in all pantry/office locationsWork in the field in a variety of locations to observe operations and maintain standardsMaintain program integrity with our schools, volunteers, partners and staffCommunicate with our school partners and maintain positive relationships for the organizationMaintain the highest standards and integrity in keeping with the organization's culture and purpose. Provide timely and transparent communication to the CEO regarding program operations Administrative and Development DutiesMaintain accurate program records including but not limited to: scheduling, inventory, contact information, enrollment, and tracking systems.Manage program payroll and expenses while advocating for the resources needed to ensure quality executionProtect assets such as vans, physical buildings, and equipmentMaintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, and databases in the shared driveWeekly resource planning and allocationParticipate in planning sessions as requested with internal and external partnersSupport events, campaigns, and general development efforts of the organization.Instill organizational history, mission, vision, and values among the team Engage the entire team in the fiscal goals and the fundraising required to provide our servicesSCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY:Employees may be required to attend events and be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the organizations needs. Salaried managers should expect to work an average of 45 hours per week, with some hours falling outside the organizations normal business hours. Additionally, salaried managers may need to respond to critical or emergencies that impact operations.CONDITIONS OF WORK:While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee may be exposed to various environmental conditions including wet and humid weather, extreme heat, and rain. This role requires travel within the organizations service areas and necessitates that the employee regularly drive a company vehicle. Employees frequently need to climb, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
