Importantly, you are a team player with integrity, a strong emotional quotient and an ability to nurture high trust relationships.About the RoleThe Sr. Portfolio Manager, Venture will help expand and deepen our venture philanthropy portfolio of grantees. The Portfolio Manager works to support the Director, Venture Portfolio to identify new organizations to bring into the portfolio, and supports organizations in the portfolio to scale and achieve outsize impact.This is a FLSA Full Time Exempt position, reporting to our Director, Venture Portfolio.Responsibilities include:PortfolioManage a portfolio of grantees by providing strategic guidance and support as they move through their grant life cycle.Conduct visits and regular check-ins with grantees to assess progress, troubleshoot challenges and provide support.Ensure grantees receive necessary support and resources by coordinating internal resources and connecting with external opportunities.Manage the grantmaking process from application through reporting, including conducting grantee due diligence, docket drafting, semi annual check-ins, and tracking impact.Manage grantee onboarding and orientation.Ensure compliance with grant requirements and guidelines, working with grantees to address any issues.Program LeadershipSupport the development of program materials, such as agendas, presentations, and reportsIdentify trends and insights from grantee reports and data to inform portfolio strategy or processesAssist in development and implementation of evaluation frameworksTrack and analyze grantee performance, preparing reports on portfolio progress andimpactContribute to pillar strategy development and revisionsRelationship BuildingLead in the execution of strategic convenings, workshops, and other events that bring grantees and stakeholders together.Conduct research and draft strategic memos on potential grantmaking areasInternal AdministrationLead docket write-ups and Board updatesDocument metrics and lessons to contribute to GCF's annual impact reportProvide administrative and logistical support to the Director when requestedParticipate in team-related initiatives, including team meetings, performance reviews, team-building activities, and training sessionsEnsure compliance with organizational policies and procedures by managing documentation, contracts, and completing all required trainingsSubmit complete and accurate expense reports on timeQualifications:4 - 6 years of mid-level to senior experience working in philanthropy, climate-focused social enterprise, and/or founding/leading a mission-led enterprise (for or non-profit) requiredAt least one area of relevant content expertise including: energy transition, climate mitigation, global climate diplomacy, clean energy finance requiredInternational experience, particularly in Asia/emerging markets with nonprofit or energy markets and working with multi-cultural teams preferredDirect experience with grantmaking or grant receiving organizations prefferredHighly strategic and collaborativeExcellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to summarize and present information to various audiences, including NGOs, funders and expertsAbility to travel up to 10% of the timeMulti lingual a plusGraduate degree e.g., MBA, MPH, MPP, or other relevant degree preferredThe starting salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,00.Benefits & Organizational CultureWe have a dynamic and agile organizational culture and we're serious about supporting our people to thrive.
