Job ***** HVAC/Controls APM***** Chicago, ILJob ***** Full-TimeJob OverviewWe seek an HVAC/Controls Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of HVAC and Building Automation System (BAS) projects in commercial mechanical construction. This role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution, from planning and design to commissioning. The ideal candidate understands HVAC workflows, BAS/DDC systems, and mechanical controls and has excellent organizational and communication skills.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in planning, designing, and managing HVAC and BAS/DDC projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, timelines, and quality standards.Coordinate project documentation using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam, including submittals, schedules, and as-built drawings.Support the setup, programming, and commissioning of automation systems, including Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, ALC, Distech, and BACnet-compatible devices.Act as a liaison between project managers, contractors, vendors, and clients, ensuring smooth communication and problem resolution.Assist with system testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.Monitor and track project progress, helping to identify and mitigate potential risks or delays.QualificationsAssociate or bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Automation, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).2+ years of experience supporting HVAC, BAS, DDC, or mechanical systems in commercial construction.Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, and BACnet protocols are preferred.Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara, Distech, ALC, or Johnson Controls systems is a strong plus.Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Local experience in Chicago, IL, is preferred, demonstrating stability and commitment to the region.Benefits & CompensationCompetitive salary (based on experience)Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off (PTO) and holidaysCareer growth opportunities within the companyEqual Employment OpportunityAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
