Senior Environmental Specialist/Asbestos Investigator

JOB DESCRIPTION:About the job:An award-winning consulting engineering firm located in Elmwood Park, New Jersey is seeking a mid-level candidate with 3 or more years of experience who is willing to join our growing environmental/hazmat team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:Asbestos and other hazardous substances investigations and sampling of suspect materials, investigation report writingAssist Project Manager with management of asbestos abatement oversight projects/QC visitsAssist in development and/or review of abatement and remediation plans and specifications. Ability to read architectural and mechanical drawingsAbility to work effectively under a deadlineAbility to work both in the office and in the fieldAbility to wear personal protective equipment if working in hazardous conditionsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:Required: current NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator license and NYS Asbestos Inspector certificationBachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field3+ Years of experience in Asbestos Inspections/Investigations with knowledge of applicable regulations for New York State and New York CityProficiency in computer applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, etcGood writing and communication skillsOSHA 10-hr. and OSHA 30-hr. Construction SafetyNYSDOL Project Monitor, Designer, Mold Assessor and EPA Lead Inspector certifications are a plusKnowledge of CAD is a plus
