Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) is a vibrant and expanding 501(c)(3) that promotes policy and market-based solutions to advance sustainable energy in the U.S. and internationally. CRS's work engages stakeholders across the sustainable energy sector, including renewable energy users, sellers, government, and other NGOs through its education, technical assistance, and policy-focused programs and outreach. CRS also administers the market-leading Green-e® programs, which offer independent environmental and consumer protection standards and certification for buyers and producers of renewable energy, such as utility green power programs, and carbon offsets and biomethane.As the public's awareness of the impacts of pollution arising from electricity generation, energy security issues, and sustainable economic development has risen, the demand for renewable energy has increased greatly. Voluntary certified renewable energy sales in the U.S. have increased an average of 17% over the past 4 years, and CRS's Green-e® Certification program currently certifies roughly 3% of the total U.S. electricity mix. More than half of the installed wind capacity in the U.S. is participating in Green-e® Energy certified transactions. This position is a chance to join a leading clean energy nonprofit organization and work on a program whose growth mirrors the dynamic renewable energy market.The Manager position is based in CRS's San Francisco office. This position is not remote and requires in-person presence in accordance with CRS's work schedule policies. Currently CRS maintains a hybrid work schedule, but that could change based on the needs of the organization and other factors.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Manager will be working with and reporting to the Senior Director of Certification Programs supporting the certification program processes and participants. This position requires cross-functional work, leadership and teamwork, and making sure that Manager's work and strategies are in alignment with CRS technical and policy positions.This position requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a firm focus on priorities, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, and a high level of comfort contacting current and potential program participants by phone and email in a professional manner.Key responsibilities include:Green-e® Program Operations - 90%Overseeing technical and policy aspects of the Green-e® Energy programUpdating and maintaining program standards and supporting documents, including working with CRS technology staff to ensure that verification practices and tools are up to date and effective, and properly communicatedConducting outreach to and quarterly meetings with program participants, stakeholders and the Green-e® Governance BoardManaging annual verification processes for Green-e® Energy, and potentially other Green-e® programs, including oversight of staff and summer seasonal employeesEngaging with CRS Policy and Market Development staff to ensure that US and Canadian renewable energy and climate policy developments are properly addressed in Green-e® Energy documents and practices.Project managing the technical development of new Green-e® Energy program offeringsOverseeing the use of Green-e® certification in other standards and programs, e.g. LEED, B Corp and the US EPA Green Power PartnershipCoordinating with the Green-e® Program Outreach team as needed, including through coordinating new participant engagement, education on technical aspects of Green-e® programs, and design of new program features to address emerging environmental and market needsParticipating in program fee and budget analysis and settingSupport CRS Education, Policy and Market Development Work - 10%Contributing to policy, advisory and technical engagements and reports, through research and interviewsOccasional travel and public speaking will be requiredManager will receive significant training as needed, and a period to adjust to the position and program details. During that time, other program tasks may be assigned for educational purposes, with the goal of the Manager eventually overseeing the work of others performing those tasks.Manager will not immediately manage any direct reports, however, in time this position may take on personnel management if agreed to by the Manager and Senior Director of Certification Programs.QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERED SKILLS:Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of relevant work experienceMasters degree in a related field preferredPassion for renewable energy and environmental issuesEducation or job experience in one or more of: renewable energy policy; project management; data management; program operations; stakeholder engagement; consumer protection; auditing; standard development; and committee managementPrevious experience with one or more Green-e® certification programs is a plusRelevant subject matter experience in one or more of: wholesale and retail renewable energy markets; renewable energy certificates (RECs); renewable energy tracking systems; renewable and clean energy regulations; impactful clean energy procurement strategies; greenhouse gas accounting best practices; and carbon impact claims.Great attention to detail and excellent organizational skillsSkilled at managing projects, collaborating on teams and executing tasks independentlyExperience managing data in Excel, and ideally in Salesforce CRM as wellClear and proactive communicator, strong writing skills, comfortable speaking publicly and utilizing diverse media formats and partnerships to share and promote Green-e® programs as well as CRS and its thought leadership.Flexible and self-starting, able to multitask and prioritize across multiple projectsMotivated problem solver, excited to dive deeply into renewable energy and related topicsPersonal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to CRS's missionNote: While this job requisition is targeted for the Manager position, we are open to considering applicants with varying levels of experience.
