Electrical Estimator - Richmond, VA - On-siteOverviewA leading electrical contracting firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join their team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for various electrical construction projects, writing proposals, and acting as the primary point-of-contact with clients. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, a deep understanding of project management and construction estimating software, and comprehensive knowledge of commercial or industrial building codes and related systems/controls.ResponsibilitiesPrepare cost estimates for electrical construction projects up to $50M using construction plans and specificationsWrite proposals that accurately capture the scope of work and associated costsLead the Proposal Review Process to ensure management has the appropriate documentationMaintain project documentation and tracking in line with company standards throughout the pre-construction phaseCollaborate with the Project Team to establish accurate budgets and buyouts based on estimatesCoordinate the total estimating effort for specific bids/projectsNegotiate with vendors to ensure the quality and lowest cost on bid itemsProvide support to other departments as needed, including preparing estimates in other disciplines and assisting Project Managers with start-up and change-order costsQualifications4+ years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering within the commercial or industrial electrical construction industry3+years Data Center experience is requiredExperience with estimating software and change order/new project pricingProficient in project management and construction estimating softwareAbility to interpret computerized cost data, read blueprints, and understand project specificationsWorking knowledge of commercial or industrial building codes and related systems/controlsStrong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to pass pre-employment background checks and motor vehicle record checksDay-to-DayConducting detailed takeoffs of the scope of workEnsuring project documentation and tracking meet company standardsCollaborating with the Project Team to establish accurate budgets and buyoutsServing as the primary point-of-contact with clientsNegotiating with vendors to ensure quality and the best cost on bid itemsSupporting other department personnel as needed
