With a competitive presence in the commercial, healthcare, laboratory/technical, industrial, and automotive markets, we strive to complete each project with unmatched quality and integrity while on time and within budget.About the role:The Chief/Lead Estimator will lead all aspects of the bid/estimating process, including but not limited to - review of plans and specs, soliciting and negotiating prices with subcontractors/suppliers, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping, and bidding of construction documents. This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with the companies internal teams as well as external suppliers, subcontractors, owners, architects, and engineers.Key Responsibilities:Participate in all pre-bid meetings and attend job walks.Collaborate with Project Manager and ownership to review project scope, bids, and recommended vendors.Performs quantity take-offs.Create Scoping documents for CSI bid Packages.Identifying scope of work for the bid coordinator to help ensure adequate bid coverage is received for all trades.Identify all required CSI trades necessary for biddingQuickly and accurately diagnose error, scope, and exclusions in subcontractor estimates.Creates, understands, receives, and distributes RFIs to clarify plan discrepancies, constructability issues, and scheduling problems.Act as a resource to project management throughout the project to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate.Supports post-bid buyouts.Directs, coordinates, and provides information and documents to subcontractors.Participates in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids.Builds relationships with subcontractors to obtain a competitive advantage for company.Attends industry events and represents company to the industry in a professional capacity.Builds and maintains relationships with internal clients.Keeps current with latest estimating technology and techniques.Complete other responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years' experience, preferably with a General Contractor, doing a similar scope of work.Healthcare estimating experience is a plus.4-year college degree in related field is a plus.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects.Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers.Ability to read and interpret technical documents.Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
