BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services.BR+A is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer in our Houston, TX office. The candidate must be strongly motivated, well organized, and show professional initiative The ability to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is necessary.The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Revit, and their responsibilities will include:Delivering high-quality designs and deliverables on technically challenging projectsManaging projects, writing proposals, maintaining positive client relationshipsPerforming advanced heating and cooling load calculations with Trace or HAPDeveloping sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areasDeveloping equipment room sizes during SD and DD phasesEditing specifications to reflect the project requirementsDeveloping air and water flowsUnderstanding fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for applicationUsing the psychrometric chart properly for any HVAC systemMeeting with vendors to determine specification requirements for applicationCoordinating with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc) for all HVAC detailsResponding to RFI's for the project, and accurately review submittalsUnderstanding work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work planUnderstanding the proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and delivering appropriate documentationModifying sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systemsUnderstanding both constant and variable flow systems, and properly applying equipmentMeeting with contractors during the bid phase to review the design detailsPerforming field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projectsEssential Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience in designing Healthcare, Higher Education or Laboratory projectsExcellent Organizational and Communication skillsPositive attitude, result-driven and team-orientedProactive and Collaborative team memberProfessional conduct and presentationDetail orientated and deadline-drivenMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringPE License10-15 years of relevant experienceBR+A is a place to learn, to grow, to work hard for clients that matter - and to be part of something bigger.
