Quality EngineerLocation: Champs Labs, (Albion, IL)Position Summary/PurposeResponsible for evaluating and improving Quality of our products. This multifaceted role includes designing and implementing robust quality control procedures, monitoring supplier quality issues/performance, managing IATF 16949 compliance, and collaborating extensively with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. Essential FunctionsThe following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time without notice. To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential task satisfactorily. Schedule and facilitates the required internal audits for the IATF 16949 Quality Management System registration preparedness and continuous improvement of the systems. Develops criteria and trains internal auditors to keep abreast of changes to the IATF 16949 standards. Manage the 3rd party IATF 16949 audit and work to close corrective actionsManage LPA process ensuring audits are scheduled and completed per requirements. Maintains audit question database and updates as necessary.Issue supplier rejections and follow-up on their corrective actions.Provide support for procedures and work instruction creation or maintenance for the improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) as needed.Knowledge and understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Control Plan requirements which may include the review of standards and specifications, drawings, gages, establishing and or updating sampling plans for incoming, in-process and final inspections, milestone reviews and change reviews (ECR/ECN).Assist suppliers with returns, analyze supplier complaints, and determine corrective action required to prevent reoccurrence, visiting supplier locations as needed, communicating issues to the management team, champion the core team approach for quality issues and utilizing a discipline problem-solving approach.Working knowledge and use of Statistical Process Control (SPC)Working knowledge and use in Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)Working knowledge and use of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for both supplier and customerFamiliar with Failure, Mode, Effects, Analysis, (FMEA) and participating in RPN Reduction planningWork with cross-functional team on continuous improvement initiatives to elevate overall operational efficiency. Support Purchasing in defining PPAP requirements for internal and external supplier related components, reviewing supplier PPAP's and resolving supplier issues which impact the plant and the affected customer, as defined in the Supplier Requirements Manual.Assist training needs for supervision, inspectors, and operators as related to quality.Monitor customer scorecards.Monitor relevant customer-specific requirements and ensure compliance.Monitor and upload to customer portals as needed.Conduct inspections and audits at various stages of production or service delivery at both the facility and Distribution Center as needed.Coordinates regular Management Reviews with management team, prepares the agenda for the reviews, compile KPI information, and maintains records of the meetings.Universal ExpectationsAuthority to stop production or shipments when suspect parts are found and responsibility for the quality of parts produced.Responsibility for the communication and resolution of supplier, internal plant, customer and warranty issues (Quality Alerts, electronic communication such as email, SharePoint, or customer portals).As a condition of employment, the employee is expected to comply with our safetypolicies and procedures.Ability to work a full-time schedule.Skills and CompetenciesCertified ISO 9001, IATF 16949 Internal Auditor (A Plus)AIAG: SPC, MSA, APQP/CP, PPAP, FMEA (required)8-Step (8D) Problem Solving or equivalent methodology (required)Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) (required)Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (required)MS SharePoint and TeamsMinitabIMDSRisk AnalysisFamiliarity with CMM and various measuring devices (i.e. calipers, micrometers, comparator and so on)Effective Communication, Organizational, and Problem-Solving SkillsAbility to multitask Education/Experience/CertificationsHigh School Diploma / GED (Required)A bachelor's degree or an associate degree combined with two years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.5+ years' experience (Preferred)ASQ certification (A plus)Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
