Position Overview: Anode seeks a Staff Mechanical Engineer to mature our modular mobile battery energy storage system (mBESS) architecture from an existing concept and into a production-ready design. This role focuses on detailed engineering, analysis, and design optimization to transform industrial design concepts into manufacturable products.Key Responsibilities:Engineering Development: Transform conceptual designs into production-ready solutions through detailed engineering analysis, simulation, and design optimization. Balance performance, manufacturability, and cost requirements.Technical Analysis: Lead comprehensive engineering studies including FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis. Validate designs through simulation and physical testing to ensure performance and reliability targets are met.Design Optimization: Develop and optimize mechanical systems including structures, thermal management, and electromechanical interfaces. Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing documentation.Production Engineering: Drive DFM/DFA implementation, working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production. Develop test plans and validation protocols.Technical Leadership: Guide junior engineers and external partners in design development. Collaborate with industrial design and electrical teams to maintain design intent through engineering development.Qualifications:Must Have:Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field8+ years of mechanical design experience in complex electromechanical systemsExpert proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software and PDM/PLM systemsStrong background in FEA, thermal analysis, and simulation toolsStrong understanding of material selection, parts manufacturing and metal forming processesProven experience in DFM/DFA implementationTrack record of maturing concepts to production-ready designsExperience with test planning and design validationTechnical leadership skills with ability to mentor othersPreferred:Masters degree in Mechanical EngineeringBattery thermal management system experienceAutomotive, energy storage systems, and/or industrial equipment product development backgroundStrong understanding of injection moldingExperience with rapid prototyping and testing methodsCFD analysis expertiseIndustrial design collaboration experienceWhy Join Us?Join a mission-driven team revolutionizing the energy industry with mobile battery systems and an innovative energy-as-a-service model.
