Lead Software Engineer Server Infrastructure

Your MissionSoldiers, scientists, adventurers, oddities...engineers!As a server lead on the Overwatch team, you will be part of a hardworking and passionate team developing world class server technology, unlocking the potential of our engineers, designers and artists to create compelling and exciting features and keep players engaged for years to come.The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges involved with authoring game server infrastructure, features and systems, comfortable leading a team of engineers and collaborate closely with other internal teams.This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:RESPONSIBILITIESProvide technical direction and personnel management for the server infrastructure teamServe as an active member of team's engineering leadershipOwn the process of continual improvement for the server engineering teamCollaborate with engineers, producers, designers, and internal partners to implement features and continually improve our platformWork with other leads and producers to establish tasks and schedulesMaintain effective relationships with key internal partnersExperienceMinimum of 5 years' experience in AAA game development - MUSTMust have direct reports in current or past experienceExperience creating and extending reusable server technologyExperience working on a networked multiplayer gameExperience working on and maintaining a live gamePrevious leadership experienceKnowledge & SkillsStrong C++ programming skillsPassion for server and/or networking technologyExperience integrating a game with various 1st and 3rd party platformsExperience working on first-person or other action-oriented gamesExperience working with large scale distributed systemsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsKey AttributesPassion for playing and making video gamesPassion for continuing education and improvementYour PlatformBest known for iconic video game universes including Warcraft®, Overwatch®, Diablo®, and StarCraft®, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
