TITLE: SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERN (Machine Learning)FLSA STATUS: EXEMPTREPORTS TO: SR. MANAGER, APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Application Development, the Intern will work on various development projects within the application development group using Machine Learning techniques, Python programming language, and MS SQL databases. The Intern must possess a working knowledge of various Machine Learning techniques as well as experience with data handling, cleaning and extraction. This position is located in Milpitas, CA.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Uses programming language such as Python, C++, or C# to design and develop software applicationsKnowledge of machine learning techniques such as linear regression, classification, clustering, decision tree and neural networksKnowledge of working with relational databases such as MS SQLUnderstands the fundamentals of data handling, cleaning and extraction of data files and processesPartners with other team members or groups to share knowledge and learningsPrepares end of internship report and presentationAdheres to all safety policies and procedures as requiredPerforms other duties of a similar nature or levelMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Actively Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and/or equivalent relevant experienceExperience with the following programming in Python, C#, or C++Experience with software development and project life cycleKnowledge of basic database and data handling processesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of software languages such as Python, C#, or C++Knowledge of Machine Learning techniques.Knowledge of the basic principles of software programming and database/data handlingKnowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentationsAble to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees and managementAble to comply with all safety policies and proceduresDemonstrated prioritization and organizational skillsDemonstrated time management skillsDemonstrated problem-solving and trouble shooting skillsFlexible and able to prioritizeThe base salary for this summer internship position is between $66,632.00-$83,000.00 + benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The base pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically. Headway internships begin in early June and end in mid-September contingent on student school schedule.WORKING CONDITIONS:The Software Engineer Intern works primarily in an office environment from Monday to Friday. The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed. Occasionally, works in a class 100 ESD sensitive wafer fab manufacturing facility; adheres to required safety and dress standards. Stands and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment.
