EstimatorOur client is looking for an Estimator (or Sr. Estimator) to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring experience in estimating for light industrial projects, along with an openness to working on a wide variety of construction projects, including commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for light industrial and mixed-projects (including commercial, residential, and other various construction types).Perform quantity takeoffs from project plans, specs, and drawings.Analyze project documents and collaborate with architects, engineers, and owners to assess project scope, schedule, and cost expectations.Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.Develop project budgets, including materials, labor, subcontractor costs, and other direct/indirect costs.Review project plans and identify potential risks, proposing mitigation strategies to keep projects within scope and budget.Prepare detailed bid proposals, including qualifications, exclusions, and clarifications as necessary.Collaborate with the project management team to transition estimates into the construction phase, ensuring alignment with budget expectations.Maintain and update cost databases and pricing models, adjusting for market conditions.Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure successful bidding and project execution.Track project progress during construction, identifying and addressing any discrepancies between actual costs and initial estimates.Participate in preconstruction meetings with project teams to ensure alignment between estimating, project design, and final scope.Maintain knowledge of industry trends, building codes, and regulations, ensuring estimates meet all compliance standards.RequirementsProven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on light industrial projects (such as manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution centers).Experience estimating a variety of construction projects, including commercial, residential, mixed-use, or tenant improvement projects.Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).Strong understanding of construction costing methods, materials, and processes.Solid knowledge of construction scheduling, contracts, and subcontractor relationships.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing client expectations and building relationships.Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).10+ years of estimating experience (for Senior Estimator role), including light industrial and commercial construction projects.OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is a plus.About Scott-HumphreyWe are a national recruitment practice specializing in Construction, Real Estate, Legal, Pharma/Med Device, Digital Marketing, Creative, & Shared Services recruitment.
