As a Sr. Estimator, your role would be with a dynamic firm that has progressive leadership and a culture that consistently ranks as one of the region's top contractors and offers fantastic employee appreciation and excellent opportunities for career growth.The Sr. Estimator position requires 10+ years of Estimating experience with a self-performing civil construction firm with expertise in underground utilities, earthwork, paving, and/or structures projects. Because this position will have oversight of projects, the ideal candidate will be familiar with alternative delivery methods and procedures and be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results.The position will also take part in calculating costs of a broad range of projects. The goal is to provide accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning, managing quantity takeoffs, producing proposals, and reviewing bid instructions, plans, specifications, and related bid documents. The position will manage the estimating staff, subcontractors, vendors, and project owners.Employee AppreciationBase Salary $130K-$170K DOEStrong annual bonus programMedical/Dental/Vision Benefits401k with company matchCompany vehicle or allowancePaid vacation, sick time, and holidaysRequired Experience/Skills/Qualifications:10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis in the public works, underground utilities, heavy highway, bridges, or concrete structures.Experience with state DOT and municipalities is mandatoryExperience with any of the following: HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, and/or Primavera P6Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experienceNegotiated project experience ideal, including technical writing skills, project proposal development in CMAR, CM/GC and Design Build projects to $500MResponsibilitiesOversee the estimating and operations processes for construction projects, ensuring accurate cost control and pricing strategies.Collaborate with project managers to develop comprehensive proposals and contracts.Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project for project planning and management.Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.Ensure compliance with construction management standards and safety regulations on-site.Provide technical writing support for project documentation and reports.Essential Duties:Analyzes and properly vets all bid opportunities to ensure viability. Reviews bid calendar and schedules bid reviewsAttends pre-bid meetings and job walks, ensuring sufficient understanding of the job scopeCorrectly reads and interprets drawings, specifications, and addendums.Reviews historical production rates, material pricing, and equipment utilizationApplies all collected information to job bid to ensure accuracyIntentionally collects information through available channels and applies it to the bidding process to deliver an accurate, well-organized, detailed, and timely bidPerforms project takeoffs using BlueBeamRecommends profitability for estimated projectsPresents bids to customersCommunicates effectively with key stakeholders (including Project Managers, Field Operations, and Customers) regarding the bid. Supports project handoff to assigned Project Manageroperations, and customersProvides excellent client service and encourages growth and repeat business by establishing and maintaining successful business relationshipsPerforms other duties as assigned
