Import Ocean & Air Agent

Import Agent (Ocean & Air)I.K. Hofmann USA is seeking a full-time Import Agent to join our import team. The Import Agent is responsible for processing documentation required by US Customs and Border Protection for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers. Industry experience is required, and compensation will depend upon that experience.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide impeccable customer serviceMaintain and keep current all customs compliance documentationPerform track and trace functions with carriers and ports.Monitoring detention and demurrage cutoffs, escalating to management when necessary.Arrange both delivery and the invoicing of the import account for services renderedMandatory daily correspondence with overseas and domestic agents, as well as airlines, steamship lines, and co-loadersWork closely with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.Perform other duties as assignedReport all issues to customers and management affecting clearance and delivery in a timely manner in writing or verballyReporting freight discrepancies to managementEnsure that all files contain all necessary document copiesHas at least 2 years of experience with Import/ Export.Essential functions:Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.Occasionally move about inside the office to access invoices, office machinery, etc.Constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a computer, calculator, copier, and printer.Ability to work with demanding deadlinesExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenMust be detail oriented, thorough and accurate. Must have proven analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to establish priorities and accomplish multiple tasks, must be organizedWork effectively via phone, fax, e-mail.
